Blair to stay untill 2009 claims the News of the World:
TONY BLAIR has decided to stay on as Prime Minister until 2009â€â€because he doesn't trust Gordon Brown to deliver his radical reforms.
Two senior Cabinet ministers have told the News of the World he has SCRAPPED his plans to hand over leadership to the Chancellor at the end of next year.
Further proof of the PM's intention to stay in Downing Street comes with news that the Blairs have rented out their "retirement home" in London's Connaught Square for a further year. After that, security renovations to the house are expected to take at least another 18 months.
So, let's take a look at this. He's staying on because he doesn't trust Gordon. Such is the joined up thinking at the top of New Labour.
He doesn't trust Gordon to
He doesn't trust Gordon to hold the lid down on all the Iraq, party funding scandals, and so on. He doesn't trust that Gordon won't let all this crap boil over and bury him twelve feet under in a lead-lined coffin, and thus purge the new government of a great deal of unnecessary rot.
He can trust that Gordon will never resign and fight him out in the open, like Geoffry Howe did to Thatcher. He can trust Gordon will never be compelled to do the Right Thing. Being Prime Minister means so much to Tony and Gordon that there is no level of insanity they are not willing to go beyond in order to attain that goal.
This is the best evidence
This is the best evidence yet that Tory's preferred successor is Dave Cameraman. If he resigns early, to give Broon a fair shot at the next election, he might win it. That would be the worst result for him as he intends to take the Labour party (or the remnants of it) down with him. Result - Tory govt. to carry on with his Thatcheresque objectives. No chance of any leftist policies to regain ground lost. This is his barely hidden agenda. Old Labour party - if you wish to survive, you need to DITCH HIM NOW!!
