7/7 - The Need For A Public Inquiry Grows
We're so acclimatised to scandal, maladministration and sheer incompetance from Government and their agencies that it takes something truly awful to make us notice.
Something horrific may well have happened. MI5 had secret recordings of of Mohammad Sidique Khan talking about making bombs, about another bombing plan in it's late stages, discussing his plans to 'wage jihad', to train in al qaeda camps and saying farewell to his family.
MI5 discontinued their surveillance.
Transcripts of the tapes were never shown to the parliamentary intelligence and security committee (ISC), which investigated the attacks.
We need a public inquiry.
The new evidence shows MI5 monitored Khan when he met suspects allegedly planning another, separate attack; that he had knowledge of the “late-stage discussions†of this plot; and that he was recorded having discussions with them about making a bomb and leaving the country. He was also recorded talking about his plans to wage jihad  holy war  and go to Al-Qaeda terrorist camps abroad.
Yesterday David Davis, the shadow home secretary, said: “If this is true, it completely undermines the basis on which the ISC did its report.â€Â
Patrick Mercer, the Tory spokesman on homeland security, said: “Unless there is a proper independent inquiry, there is a danger of the committee’s report being interpreted as a whitewash.â€Â
A committee member, who asked not to be named, admitted that it had not seen transcripts of MI5’s recordings of Khan. Instead, it had taken evidence from senior security officials and accepted their judgment that there was no reason to regard Khan as a serious threat.
The MP said that if the transcripts showed Khan had been involved in discussions about bomb-making and another possible attack, the committee had been seriously misled. “If that is the case, it amounts to a scandal,†said the source. “I would be outraged.â€Â
Rachel North, a survivor of the bomb at King’s Cross, was shocked by the disclosure: “I am shaking with anger.
In the absence of an independent inquiry answering the public’s questions, I had hoped that those who heard the evidence behind closed doors on our behalf would find out the answers for us.
“They did not find out nor tell us the whole truth, and I feel badly, desperately let down.â€Â
The disclosures will increase pressure for a public inquiry into the atrocity, with greater powers to demand evidence and interrogate witnesses.
The government also failed to address concerns about what MI5 knew when they were raised in unreported exchanges in the Commons last week. Davis referred to the existence of the tape recordings when he addressed John Reid, the home secretary.
“It seems that MI5 taped Mohammad Sidique Khan talking about his wish to fight in the jihad and saying his goodbyes to his family  a clear indication that he was intending a suicide mission . . . he was known to have attended late-stage discussions on planning another major terror attack. Again, I ask the home secretary whether that is true.â€Â
Reid said the questions were “legitimate†but failed to answer them.
Meanwhile the Sunday Mirror is quoting senior ministerial sources as saying that al Qaeda has infiltrated MI5!

Meanwhile this week lawyers acting on behalf of the family of one of the victims of the London bombings will notify the Home Secretary, John Reid, they are launching legal action over the government's response to the 7 July attacks.

How many of London's police were in Scotland in the days up to 7th July hounding people legitimately protesting against the G8 summit?
Where was Tony Blair when the plot was being hatched? Didn't he spend 2-3 days in the Far East worrying IOC members into voting for Britain's Olympic Bid. Didn't this also help, psychologically, to lower the capital's defences?

Normally, if a prestigious UW alumnus and ex-Bush administration official were to come to the Wisconsin Historical Society to spill the beans about a Bush administration scandal, it would make the news. The local TV stations would cover it, and it would merit front page headlines in The Capital Times and Wisconsin State Journal.

Okay, so here we have the London bombings taking place at the exact same time and exact same location as a terror exercise "simulating" a bombing attack, and now we find out that the bombers were working as informants for MI5?
'Infiltrated by Al Qaeda' my ASCII! These poor saps were asked to play terrorist for the drill, probably told their job was to sneak fake bombs past the security detail as part of the exercise, then given real bombs instead of fake ones.
Because think about it for a minute. If these guys really were Al Qaeda and had really infiltrated MI5, don't you think Al Qaeda would want to keep them right where they were, inside MI5, not waste them in a single bombing attack?

That MI5 have informants in terrorist groups is hardly the biggest state secret in Britain either.

Just watched the Enron movie
Just watched the Enron movie last night. Hundreds of very powerful people were involved in the creation and support of the enron myth. Banks, traders, analysts, auditors, regulators and executives.
These people were turning off powers stations in California to pump up the price of electricity. They made billions off the taxpayer. And noone said anything.
It desn't take a conspiracy, just enough career incentives and the promise of money to make people get on the bandwagon. It amazing what greed can do to people.

You know, I had some time to kill and I wasted it watching some of the video on that link. I reminds me of how creationists have a rigid, preconceived idea of how things are and spend a lifetime twisting the evidence to fit. You see the same thing about faked moon landings and illuminati.
Now the bastard elite are plotting and conspiring against the population all the time - that is what the powerful do. Invading Iraq was a conspiracy, WTO/GATT is a conspiracy, there are many of conspiracies. 9/11 was not a conspiracy simply because it would not be possible to engineer such a complex series of events and have it work and keep it secret. You'd be better off spending your time investigating real conspiracies.

I'm as sceptical about conspiracy theories as you & the next man Badger, and I don't like wasting time on them, but as a construction engineer I have difficulty with two 9/11 issues:-
1. The pattern of collapse of both towers was just too neat and symmetrical to have been initiated by asymmetrical, random forces.

Governments are nearly all incompetent faced with really bloody complex problems, but a false-flag operation is just a technical task for "security services" who have long experience in undercover work and manipulation, and have little or none of the scruples of us ordinary folk.
Operation Gladio-- the Bologna station bomb 1980 ,and others, HAPPENED. Daniel Ganser, the Italian Parliament, documented it all for us.
Some of the conspiracy theories about 911,7/7, are crackpot and facile repetitions of half-truths, and anonymous does not help his case by sincere but wild accusations of brain-deadery and shillism !
Most of us have short memories, that need a helluva lot of jogging, so think back to the arming of Iraq and Iran in That War, and the Scott Inquiry. Billions of £ were made, and the Brit Establishment were prepared to send innocent men to prison to cover their arses.

As I said, the powerful are conspiring all the time - that is what they do. A war is a conspiracy - a mass of people mobilised through propaganda and coercion into risking their lives and those of others as part of a power game. The rulers are odious people. The conquest of Iraq and Afghanistan are cases in point - these are conspiracies - a huge military industrial complex has been mobilised merely to secure strategic power and natural resources. To obtain public acquiesence, a huge propaganda machine has been brought into play. The result is hundreds of thousands of deaths and destroyed nations. Just for oil for the few.
Not for one moment do I doubt that George and Tony would not mount an event like 9/11 or 7/7 to get their 'Pearl Harbor'. I just don't believe it is possible to do such a thing. It is easy to sends hundreds of thousands of troops and drop millions of 500 pound bombs half way round the world but it is not possible to stage a 9/11. The level of organisation, the command structure, the number of people involved would all preclude it. The WTC was built at the then limit of steel framed engineering; 2 jumbo jets fully laden with fuel crashed at the optimal height to maximise the combination of load stress and weakness of the central support column. The steel did not need to melt, merely lose most of its strength as it was heated above 800 Celsius. What followed followed the laws of physics.
I don't like the term conspiracy theory. The false hypothesis about the WTC distracts from the real conspiracy - globalisation. Democratic government is being superceded by a kind of corporate media complex. Globalisation is about one thing - the rule of the powerful over the weak. Globalisation is what is preventing everyone from having water, food and shelter. Things are only going to get worse in a deregulated market. Fight that.

However I must say that your arguments do not answer my issues. The over-simplistic analysis of the mode of collapse of the two towers exactly follows the official line - and it just does not stand up to close technical scrutiny of forces, temperatures and failure modes involved. This 'explanation' is as impossibly tidy as the collapses - all neatly packaged.
Also, like the official version, it conveniently ignores any explanation of the tower 7 'collapse'.
No more diversions - we'll agree to differ on this and concentrate on the real issues - globalisation, growth of the 'ruling elite' and the death of democracy.
