Unintelligence-led Policing

Pinch of salt needed, because it's a Sunday tabloid, but it's worth keeping an eye on this story in case it gets corroborated later. If true, it looks like the following has happened.

  • Blair's Home Office brings in tough, badly written, catch-all anti-terrorism legislation
  • Blair invades Iraq
  • The Sun prints a flag-waving story about a brave Tommy slotting some brown people
  • Thick 'nutter', who happens to be a Muslim, has vague ideas about sorting out the war hero based on the Sun article, but being thick and a nutter, isn't actually capable of much of a threat.
  • Owing to the new legislation, this is now a serious terrorist crime and he gets six years
  • MI5, desperate for any intelligence, offer him a deal of better treatment in return for information - after all he is a 'terrorist', the law says so
  • Some of his mates visit him inside
  • On being asked about them (cos they look a bit Muslim, don't they) he makes something up
  • 250 rozzers bust the mates and shoot one of them

A lot of hypothesis in there, true, but we'll see how it pans out.

I could point you to the mainstream press, but since this is a blog and because I like the bloke, read it at SpyBlog.
