Tweedledum and Tweedledummer
One of those amusing microphone-left-on moments has emerged, between our two favourite dim war criminals, Bush and Blair. The full text is on Adam Boulton's blog. Particularly interesting is the rather submissive tone adopted by Tony on hearing His Master's Voice, and the final segment where they discuss an unnamed individual. Guesses please:
Bush: Yeah, yeah, he is sweet
Blair: He is honey. And that's what the whole thing is about. It's the same with Iraq
Bush: I felt like telling Kofi to call, to get on the phone to Bashad [Bashir Assad](9a and make something happen
Blair: Yeah
Bush: [inaudible]
Blair:
Bush: We are not blaming the Lebanese government
Does he really think Iraq is going 'in the right way'? Is the current action in Gaza and Lebanon going to bring a 'solution' in Palestine (other than Israel sitting on a pile of corpses, again)? Is the man we are forced to call 'Prime Minister' actually in possession of a clue? Is Kofi in the habit of taking orders directly from Dubya, as implied? Who is 'honey'? Answers on a piece of shrapnel, please.
It really beggars belief
It really beggars belief doesn't it? A very revealing moment.
*chomp chomp chomp* yo
*chomp chomp chomp* yo Blair! how ya doin'?
i'm cringing and laughing my ass off simultaneously.
It does lend credence to the
It does lend credence to the Heterodox Theory Of Blair (the Orthodox being that he's a lying scumbag), which states that he actually believes what he says, and simply ignores any evidence that contradicts.
Heterodox or Orthodox, I
Heterodox or Orthodox, I honestly don't know which is worse. I suppose at the end of the day it makes little difference (certainly not for the beleagured Palestinians, Lebanese, Iraqis, Afghans...)
It must be serious, Terry
It must be serious, Terry Waite's gone into hiding...
He is not calling someone
He is not calling someone honey, he is replying to dubya with effection:
"He is, Honey."
call me prejudiced (against
call me prejudiced (against the preznit) cause i am but don't all these crude little verbal faux pax of his lend more credence to him wanting to bomb al-Jazeera?
According to The Times,
According to The Times, "Sweet" and "Honey" are references not to each other (funny though that is) but to President Assad of Syria.
At first the hot money was on it being Kofi Annan, the United Nations Secretary- General, but some believed that they meant President Assad of Syria. They were right, said officials: Mr Assad was the figure both leaders had in mind.
Does the Times go on to
Does the Times go on to question why they link Honey with 'what the whole thing is about' and 'It's the same in Iraq'. Are they talking about Syrian interference in Lebanon (which is real) or in Iraq (which is probably real as well, all the border states of Iraq are getting involved, more or less)? The obvious hypocrisy of getting worked up about Syria sticking its nose into other people's countries hardly needs spelling out, does it?
Yes, it has to be Assad.
Yes, it has to be Assad. People forget that the regimes in countries like Syria and Egypt are under pressure from their own islamists, and if they think the US and UK will help them supress their own internal dissenters, then they'll side with us and put pressure on Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the poor and disillusioned in these countries, together with The Poor in the rest of the world, who are kept in poverty by the WTO and G8, look at the only people who are putting up any kind of fight, and side with the islamists. It's a runaway positive feedback loop that will only be broken by addressing the problems of the poor and disillusioned, rather than those of their leaders.
This proves what we thought
This proves what we thought - one arrogant, Texan red-neck playing world politics like it's a game in the park plus one fawning, subservient, spineless, legacy-seeking twat.
And our future is in these hands ... just fcuking terrifying.
