Tony Gets His Instructions

We weren't joking when we said that Blair's visit to the states was to get his orders from George and Rupert. He's got them
Tony Blair has fired the opening shots in a new war with Gordon Brown by indicating that he wants to stay in power for "at least another year," The Sunday Telegraph has learnt.
Close colleagues of the Prime Minister say that he returned from his five-day trip to the United States feeling "rejuvenated" and believing that he still has a major role to play both domestically and internationally.
He has ordered his aides to prepare a packed programme for September, between his return from his Caribbean holiday and the start of the Labour Party conference in Manchester.
The last thing George wants is to lose his lapdog: Stay Blair stay, there's a good doggie... Now beg...
I'm not sure if I can take
I'm not sure if I can take any more of him. Shouldn't this be a signal for a leadership challenge if not a well-timed arrest?
He had his instructions back
He had his instructions back in May:
"PRESIDENT BUSH: I know a man of resolve and vision and courage. And my attitude is, I want him to be here so long as I'm the President.
"PRIME MINISTER BLAIR: Well, what more can I say? (Laughter) Probably not wise to say anything more at all."
November 2008? ANOTHER 2
November 2008? ANOTHER 2 YEARS???
I don't think I can stand another 2 weeks. The man has to go, and that's what the next demo should be about: Stand Down Tony!
Hopefully (please God!)
Hopefully (please God!) there will be a leadership challange soon - I can't see people in the Labour party putting up with him for much longer. If only MI5 never had those pictures of Gordon with a rent boy - Tony would surely be long gone by now.
Which raises another point, Gordon as PM will be no different when it comes to extreme right wing policies, 'the powers that be' already own him. They are just two sides of the same coin.
I agree, we need a
I agree, we need a huuuuuuuge march of people pissed off with Tony and want him gone. A million people, easy. Give everyone a leaflet about the power inquiry, to get everyone in the mood that we need institutional change not just putting a different focal point at the top, and get bloggers and dissidents like Craig Murray talking, and I think you'd rattle the establishment. As many people in Bollocks to Blair T-shirts as possible too.
Via Stop the War
Via Stop the War Coalition:
of the most important we have organised . It is timed for the start of
the Labour Party annual conference, which is being held in Manchester.
It will coincide with a peace camp in the city organised by Military
Families Against the War, whose activities have been so significant in
bringing home the realities of Blair's illegal war (see
http://www.mfaw.org.uk/)
There is now a concerted spin exercise by Bush and Blair to hide the
horrific reality of Iraq under US/UK occupation. In truth, the killing
and the chaos in Iraq is intensifying and major military operations in
Ramadi, Baghdad and elsewhere are already adding to the carnage and the
generalised suffering of the Iraqi people.
Building support for the September 23 TIME TO GO demonstration should be
the priority of everyone who wants to contribute to ending this war.
Anti-war protestors are coming from all corners of Britain to ensure
that Tony Blair can't use his speech at the Labour Party conference to
peddle the lie that "progress" is being made in Iraq.
WHAT WE CAN DO:
LOCAL STOP THE WAR AND PEACE GROUPS
Build support for the demonstration throughout the Summer with:
- Public meetings
- Street stalls
- Visits to workplaces, community centres, mosques, churches etc
- Press conferences at which local MPs, councillors, trade union
officials, celebrities give their support to the demo (send details of
supporters to the StWC national office)
- The widest possible distribution of leaflets, stickers etc (available
now from the Stop the War office)
Encourage new people to get actively involved in the anti-war movement.
Think of imaginative ways to raise the profile of the demonstration. One
group is already planning a feeder MARCH FOR PEACE across the Pennines
to join the demo in Manchester.
Book coaches now. The Stop the War office is already getting requests
for information about transport. This shouldn't be left to the last
minute. The selling of seat tickets should start immediately. No one
should be able to say they weren't at the demonstration because they
didn't have transport. Groups in the same area should plan the
co-ordination of pickup points for people living in outlying districts.
TRADE UNIONS
Fourteen national trade unions are affiliated to Stop the War (see
http://tinyurl.com/ofdzk). Dozens of local trade union branches and
local trade union councils are also affiliated. Local trade unionists
should:
- Get union branches to vote support for the TIME TO GO demonstration.
This is already happening in Manchester, where the NUJ, TGWU and City
College UCU have all voted to support.
- Get local union branches and trades councils to circulate the
demonstration details to all their members and to hold meetings on the
Iraq war.
- Visit workplaces with leaflets
INDIVIDUALS
Everyone one of us can plan now to be in Manchester on 23 September and
encourage our families, friends, work colleagues, fellow college and
school students etc to join the TIME TO GO demonstration. If you want to
get involved in a local Stop the War or peace group, contact the
national StWC office for details of the nearest group to where you live
or study. If there is no group near you, consider starting one with your
friends. You will be surprised at the positive response you get. A
regular Saturday street stall is a good place to start. The StWC
national office will help with resources and advice. Telephone 020 7278
6694 or email office@stopwar.org.uk.
NEED PERSUADING IT'S TIME TO GO?
If you're not convinced that it's time for all foreign troops to leave
Iraq and time for the Iraqi people to be free to decide for themselves
how their country should be governed, here is an article describing the
reality of what the Bush/Blair invasion has brought to Iraq:

TIME TO GO: SATURDAY 23 SEPTEMBER 1PM
TROOPS OUT OF IRAQ. DON'T ATTACK IRAN.
LABOUR PARTY ANNUAL CONFERENCE, MANCHESTER
Spread the word. Book the coaches. Get the leaflets.

"Ministers Support PM"
"Ministers Support PM" according to the Beeb
The PM, criticised for not calling for an immediate ceasefire, delayed his holiday to help find a solution.
Home Secretary John Reid praised his "courage" in seeing "this struggle" through. Pensions Minister John Hutton said he had acted for the "long term".
Just exactly what contribution has Blair made, delayed holiday or not?
I heard some of the Hutton
I heard some of the Hutton interview, usual complete bollocks about the country being behind Blair, magnificent achievements, election victories and so on. It's a PR campaign to head off reports of a cabinet rift and remind wavering backbenchers who got them their nice seats, get a couple of loyalists out spreading the word. Don't believe the hype.
I do wish John Reid would
I do wish John Reid would die. I don't mind if it's an accident, a brain hemorrhage, or an assasination, anything will do (although a slow painful death works better for me).
He has got to be the most loathsome man in British politics - ever. Does anyone else have a politician that they would like to see dead?
Why!! Our President Tony of
Why!! Our President Tony of course.
David Blunkett, the cry goes
David Blunkett, the cry goes up from the multitude. Not dead, just something really quite painful that can only be cured by being understanding and nice to people.
