'Holy Joe' Lieberman got defeated tonight in the Connecticut Democratic primary for senator by an unknown, Ned Lamont. For an incumbent to lose in the primary is unusual. Lieberman lost almost entirely because of his unending support for the lunatic wars of George Bush.
Sure, Lamont is anti-war lite on Iraq and no different from Lieberman on Lebanon. But still, this was a major victory for the anti-war movement. It was a torpedo into the halls of Congress and the White House. Anti-war sentiment has now gone mainstream.
This Saturday in the States, there will be nationwide protests supporting the people of Lebanon and Palestine in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and other cities. ANSWER Coalition has details.
