It's like the story about Lyndon Johnson:

Did I dream it or did some site or other claim he also told them some of the HeathrowGate suspects would end up being released? Ah, yes, (via Blood and Treasure):

He has to deny it, otheriwise NuLabour's flying monkeys start briefing against him (again) with the 'Prescott is a thickie' stories.

The question is, why did he say it?
