Stuff 90 Days - Reid Is Bringing Internment Back!
Having had his control orders quashed by Judges, Reid and others have been floating the idea of bringing back 90 day detention. The current case shows that the existing 28 days is ample time, but Blair's Bruiser is more interested in enacting as much legislation as he can.
It's a leadership bid. Wanting to be a strong, reassuring figure, he's going for the hard on terrorism bit.
Meanwhile the terror hype is continuing to affect race relations and increase community tension. A flight from Malaga to Manchester was aborted untill two asian men were thrown off the plane. These men were also questioned for several hours.
Patrick Mercer, the Tory Homeland Security spokesman, said last night: "This is a victory for terrorists. These people on the flight have been terrorised into behaving irrationally.
"For those unfortunate two men to be victimised because of the colour of their skin is just nonsense."
Another incident written by a crew member about complaints that a muslim passenger was suspiciously sleeping. Expect more 'I'm not racist, but am worried about terrorism' stories to appear.
Equally worrying is the rise in Arson attacks on mosques throughout the UK.
Are we all feeling secure yet?
I'm suprised they don't just
I'm suprised they don't just enforce the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, after all, that would be the most honest and open way to go about ending freedom and democracy in the UK...
To paraphrase Talleyrand,
To paraphrase Talleyrand, internment isn't just wrong - it is a mistake. The British government tried this back in the 70's against the IRA; but rather than suppressing terrorism, it radicalised the Irish nationalist community, and gave them more supporters, funders, and recruits. Does the British government really want to do the same to the UK's Muslims...?

A swastika was painted on the rear wall of the Jamia mosque in Swindon, Wiltshire, with the words: "Pakistanis and Jews go back to Auschwitz"

Whether or not anyone believes a real lumpenproletariat racist would, while in the process of committing a racist hate crime, go to the extreme length of writing the word 'Pakistani' in its entirety, as opposed to using its abbreviated form more commonly associated with racist abuse, is left as an item for consideration.
History repeats itself as tragedy and farce. Time to see what is really going on behind the facade of government.

Antagonist -- do you
Antagonist -- do you discount the possibility that someone's spellcheck was over-zealous and that no one on the Indy spotted it?

How do you do that, I wonder..?
Caught a few words from Reid
Caught a few words from Reid to an ABC reporter. Usual preposterous rubbish, more importantly noticed diagonal lines on his forehead that I reckon are the beginning of a pair of horns.
Steve G -- Perhaps its due
Steve G -- Perhaps its due to the same editorial team at the Independent that juxtaposed a photo of the exploded number 30 bus from 7 July 2005 into a three page article about fake terror and the politics of fear?

Hmm. I've heard of, 'It's in the paper, so it must be true', but 'This is what I take to be the implication of the juxtaposition of two pieces in the paper, so it must be true' is a bit of a new one.
I still think that you shouldn't discount the possibility of someone on the Indy unwisely accepting one of SpellCheck's suggestions and a typo thus getting through. Such things do happen from time to time.
