Let's all have a go at Gordon

Well, I'm going to have a go at Mr. Brown as soon as I can find a copy of the rumoured article he wrote where he promises, essentially, to continue supporting the US-style War on Terror, complete with secret prisons, waterboarding, extra-legal kidnaps, ID cards, etc. He refers to this as 'justice', apparently. Right-wing pro-Republican that he is.

The Safety Elephant has beaten me to it, however, and is apparently in the Evening St*nd*rd today giving the Chancellor both barrels, or possibly both tusks. Clarke has already had a go at Blair, where there's a hint of sour grapes, but the theory that for Clarke the real enemy has always been Brown is heavily reinforced here. Apparently he questions Brown's leadership potential and backs Milburn, an arch-Blairite who quit serving the public to serve a US private health giant.

Newsnight last night and Today this morning report a 'senior Cabinet Minister' saying that Brown would make a 'f*cking disaster as Prime Minister'. It seems that not everyone has the sunny confidence that a 'smooth, orderly transition' would solve all the problems.

Now, who in the cabinet would describe Dear Gordon like that (apart from Tony Blair, of course). It doesn't sound female, it's got to be fairly senior. John Hutton? John Reid (on holiday, apparently)? Any suggestions?

New twist on the usual bollocks - Blair has 'lead the country to three successive election victories'. The Labour Party, surely? Freudian slip there, courtesy of Ruth Kelly, I think.
