We're Not The Official Labour Blogger

Bugger. That prize has gone to Jonathan Roberts - who he? - member of Bullshitters4Blair. Seriously, you think people would be embarrassed to be Tony's Official blogger, but there you go.

We'll have to Be Unofficial Then
Right then, is there anyone out there who thinks it would be interesting to have us blogging from conference and wants to chat about helping us get into the hall? Drop us a line

Labour have a helpful guide to political blogging helpfully written by B4B. Shame they don't read their own advice - some of the recommended qualities have been lacking of late over there:

What makes a good blog?

* You should provide local answers to local questions and issues.
* You should debate national and international issues.
* You should promote contrary and interesting opinions - a personality, or sense of humour, helps!
* You should avoid personal attacks.
* You should avoid being wholly negative.

Some other advice

As a general rule, using a blog to mount attacks on one's political opponents is very unattractive to readers, and should be kept to a minimum – unless it can be done with great style and wit! Criticism has its place, but appearing too negative, or too partisan can reduce your credibility.

Personal articles are fine. Swearing is a no-no, and late-night blogging may not seem such a good idea in the morning.

Good Advice - but it's a shame that they just can't heed their own words of wisdom.

Let's see what they've had to say this week - emphasis in the original:

I despise BlairWatch. I have contempt for BlairWatch; contempt for its leading protagonists; contempt for its fostering of personal, paranoid, venal, and plain demented comments and commenters; its unwillingness to discuss or elaborate positive policies; its view that unless a particular policy, speech, or exposé is explicitly criticised to its own satisfaction that this constitutes acceptance and approval; that Bloggers4Labour is under any particular obligation because of its name or its membership; its protagonists' refusal to engage in cordial relations as grown human beings; and the fact that it seems perfectly satisfied for its many readers to leave abusive, anonymous comments at this blog ("Do you ever wonder what it must have been like to have been a minor official in the Vichy government?" was a fairly tame one), and no doubt others.

Fuck off, BlairWatch.

The full reasoned critique is here

Oh! A job for the boys then?

Oh! A job for the boys then? It's a Constituency Labour Party member. I get it! We can have a free vote on who we have as a blogger, as long as it's a loyal labour party member. So I don't expect much controversy from them.

Just LOVE ... ...

Just LOVE ...

... the "full reasoned critique".
RATFLOFAO

The halfwit who wrote "I despise BlairWatch. I have contempt for BlairWatch;..." reminds us of
"Your so vain you probably think this song is about you."
He seems to think that our
"How do ordinary Labour voters sleep at night ..." comment was directed at his site.

We had not heard of the
www.tosspots4labour.org
site until we saw this comment.

As for "understandable English" (c. JC), we have no doubt that many contributors to boggers4labour will certainly have difficulty with this.

Still, 'tis a joy to be quoted.

Touched a nerve then?

Blair supporters are sad

Blair supporters are sad wankers.End of story,,not quite.British politics is fucked all round. But blair is the jewel in the wankers crown without a doubt.Lying arsehole of the century.Bushs number one brown nose.

What a bunch of sad toad B4B

What a bunch of sad toad B4B are. They are the kind of loathsome slugs who Astroturf at election time applauding the dear leader for the cameras making sure real people who despise him are kept at a distance

They kind of have a point,

They kind of have a point, in that, Blairwatch is not really about UK politics at all and only tangentially concerned with Blair. The site seems tightly focussed on how US/UK foreign policy interacts with the Religion of Peace There is only scant coverage of other areas of British politics and policy.

Not really, the posters here

Not really, the posters here at BlairWatch have provided ample coverage of the ID Card legislation, the Regulatory Reform Bill and many other of Tony's prized reforms. There has also been tangential coverage of key figues in Blairs cabinet such as John Prescott our deputy PM, John Reid whatever job he is in now, Jack Straw etc.
The question you should perhaps ask is:
"Are all of the contributors to BlairWatch anti Blair in anything he does, good or evil or is there simply a dreadful lack of anything to applaud in his policies and actions?"

Re Cube's comment..... We

Re Cube's comment.....

We see several aspects to this.
1. Yes, there IS a "dreadful lack of anything to applaud in his policies and actions"
2. Yes we observe a good deal of comment on issues ogther than the embarrassing and treasonous subservience to the Bush regime.
3. bLiar is such a direct danger to this country (and the safety and security of us all) that it IS important to expose and educate people about the discrepancy between what the bLiar regime SAYS and what it DOES/has done.

The very fact that is is WIDELY known as bLiar is testamony to the reality of his duplicity, deceit and dishonesty. This is well documented in

"The Rise of Political Lying" by Peter Oborne

Lee, they may have a point,

Lee, they may have a point, but not the one you are trying to make...

'Not about UK politics at all'? What have the last 1400 posts been about then. 'Only tangentially concerned with Blair'? A google search of the site for "Blair" generates nearly 4000 results. Even allowing for duplication of the string in post titles, I think that's a mention.

You do have a point in suggesting that US/UK foreign policy comes under a lot of discussion here - perhaps more than domestic politics, but given that Blair might have something to do with that, I don't think it's unreasonable.

Anyway, after one of Bloggers4Labour's recent hysterical outbursts, I got back to Andrew in the comments. He said he was going to get back via email, as he didn't want to continue the conversation online... we are still waiting.

For the record, here is the my reply to B4L's hysteria from earlier in the year...

UK Politics: The Labour

UK Politics: The Labour party has an overall majoity in parliament. It is therefore the government, and will get most of its legislation passed into law. Blair is the leader of the governemnt, so it would seem that most of UK politics is about bLiar. The only reason that we seem anti-Blair is because he has been able to create this "cult of personality" around himself that we have fallen ito, one way or another.

"Anti-Bushism" is misunderstood as "Anti- Americanism"

"Anti-Labourism/Governmentism (sp?)" is misunderstood as "Anti-Blairism"

No dount there will soon be Brownwatch, Cameronwatch when bLiar finally works it out.

CIAgent The privatisation of

CIAgent

The privatisation of NHS Logistics by DHL is the idea of an almost unknown but very powerful American who works as the NHS Commercial Director. Ken Anderson, has held the post since 2003. During this time has has spent million of NHS money on business consultants, although his department has only three full time employees including himself. The purchasing initiatives carried out by consultants such as those from Deloitte and AT Kearney have delivered no actual savings to the NHS that weren't previously available. The only difference is that the consultants were paid over £1K per day to set up purchasing plans although they had little or no expertise in area.

In the meantime, Anderson delights in telling anybody he meets about his high contacts. One civil servant said "First, it was my good friend John Reid. Then, my buddy Tony and by the way Gordon's a great guy. Each colleague has a another jaw dropping/name dropping story, but I was recently amazed when he boasted to me of his friendship with fellow Texan George Bush. It now seems the neo-con agenda doesn't stop at Iraq. Despite a US health care system that spends triple the NHS budget (as share of GDP per capita) depite delivering worse health care outcomes even for the rich than for the poorest British, Bush's man is now doing to the NHS what his role model did to Baghdad and New Orleans". And according to him, that's exactly what his buddies Tony and George want him to do.

CIAgent I can believe you.

CIAgent I can believe you. My UK informants at the heart of the NHS tell me the same.

Since the CIA still has contacts to the Evil CaveDweller or his successors, could you suggest some ways of making friends and influencing people ?

Here in frogland short shrift was given to Collabos.
