The Pope's quoting Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologos words "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." is just breathtaking hypocrisy.
What else were the Crusades, the genocide of the Cathars, the Inquisition, the destruction of the South American kingdoms and a thousand other examples?

A couple of unusually crass comments.
The Pope seems to be deliberately stirring up anti-Islamic feeling, which is appalling and very shocking. In some ways it is worse than Bush calling Muslims fascists, because people credit the Pope with some moral authority (obviously erroneously in the present case)

Why would anyone credit a
Why would anyone credit a man who tells lies like condoms can't prevent AIDS and who opposes a woman's right to choose with any sort of moral authority anyway? Just because he's superstitious?
Anyway, Pope Rat has a long history of deriding other religions (as if Catholicism wasn't nonsensical enough; I'd like to test transubstantiation by lacing the hosts with ipecac, but I digress); when he was JPII's right-hand man, he wrote at length at how Catholicism was the one true religion and all other religions are substandard, a fact glossed over upon his election to Pope. (And another thing: why do they need to elect the Pope? Can't god just tell everyone who should become Pope?)
I think we should dump all these looney tunes on an island and let them fight it out. Then there's be no Xianity, no Islam, and no Judaism. Truly Heaven on Earth.

Further more I take offence at the targeting of my fellow countrymen and women in suicide and hate attacks, and I am demanding that the Muslim Ummah make a full apology through the MCB for the people who died on the 7th of July 2005 in the name of Allah.
If an apology is not forthcoming, I will reserve my right to boycott Islamic establishments and use the same freedom of speech afforded to the Muslim protesters who carried placards with death threats after the Jyllands-Posten debacle.

Good quote Jeff. Unfortunately for you, when you look at the context the Jewish dude goes on to say:
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
