Momentary lull in the States
The public now opposes the war(s). Bush's poll ratings are among the lowest ever for a President. His own party is now openly defying him, as witness their refusal to ok Bolton for the UN and their opposing him on all-torture-all-the-time.
So where's the outrage? Why aren't there people in the streets? There's a strange lull happening in the US antiwar movement now. In part it's due to the upcoming midterm elections in November. That giant sucking sound you hear is the energy getting siphoned out of protest and into the Democratic Party where it will be neutralized. That's always been a major role of the Democratic Party, to render protest harmless. If you think the Democrats retaking the House means an end to the wars, hey, the vast majority of them voted FOR the wars. And will continue to do so.
Another reason for the ennui is that people are maybe a bit burned out. It's been a tumultuous year. Immigrants Rights marches, anti-Minutemen protests, several major antiwar protests. As one who is active in the ANSWER Coalition, we've had a role in organizing all of these. We are currently organizing for another round of antiwar protests on October 28, just before the elections.
Oragnizers don't lead the movement. The movement leads the movement. Organizers need to be ready for when events create mass dissent. That time is coming, probably sooner rather than later. Right now, the US movement appears to be napping. It'll wake up soon enough.
So the US pull back from
So the US pull back from Iraq and Afghanistan, the UK pull out and civil war rips through both nations - nice of them to see it through.
The worst thing is Iran win, he keeps on teasing Bush for just 2 more years then the Yanks vote in a Democrat government for a war-weary public.
Iran extends it's influence in the middle east and Israel look on shaky ground.
What can we learn from this? Well despite criticism of it's methods Israel seems to have worked out the best strategy for fighting Arab hostility (i.e. don't bother with regime change, just bomb the crap out of them if they start).
Next time they kick off maybe that's exactly what we should do.
Just the right time maybe
Just the right time maybe for Ahmendinijad to adopt shrub's preemptive strike strategy.

Oh shit, little Israeli cybersoldiers on Blairwatch. How much do you get paid, SteveL ?

Has anyone noticed who drums
Has anyone noticed who drums up support for these wars? When you look at the LFoI movements over the past ten years it becomes painfully apparent. When you look at who does the lobbying in the US for wars, when you look back at historical records, when you read anti-arab articles in the papers, when you track back all the most fruitless and deadly wars of the past 100 years you have to ask some serious questions.
Why are no Israeli soldiers contributing to Afghanistan? Why are there no Israeli soldiers contributing to the war in Iraq? Why are the Israelis planning to "mini nuke" Iran for fictional WMD and a legal nuclear program? Who will pick up the pieces?
Ooookay, lets take those
Ooookay, lets take those `very real points` one by one:
"So the US pull back from Iraq and Afghanistan, the UK pull out and civil war rips through both nations" - nah, not really. The BBC recently showed that the great majority of violent attacks in Iraq are the insurgents (ie the Iraqi people) attacking the occupying forces. More than 80% of Iraqis want US/UK military out of their country, but apparently such opinion is not relevant outside of ballotbox time. As for Afghanistan, occupation is pointless if a) the Afghanis dont want it, and/or b) forces assigned are little more than token.
"Iran extends it's influence in the middle east and Israel look on shaky ground." - the first part was an inevitable consequence of the attack on Iraq (with US/UK troops looking like what they are, a force to occupy and secure oilfields). Most MEast nations aren`t that enamoured of the Iranian regime, but compared to the Coalition bombers and torturers they can only look good. As for the second part - puhlease, Israel is armed to the teeth with 300+ warheads and godknows whatelse, so the only ground that shakes is the moral one.
"...despite criticism of it's methods Israel seems to have worked out the best strategy for fighting Arab hostility (i.e. don't bother with regime change, just bomb the crap out of them if they start)" - oh yeah, harg harg harg! Fighting Arab hostility....right. This like a hitsquad of rotweilers being prepared to fight chihuahua hostility.... Of course, Israel's hostility (demonstrated every hour of every day for the last 60 years) is not worthy of comment since it's, well, just normal.
Here endeth the lesson.
Here's an interesting
Here's an interesting headline:
"Israel raids on Palestinian banks".
As if they weren't already starving, this is dusgusting.
Who wanted to support Israel?
Why?
Who benefits?
Who campaigned for them in parliament?
Have we become one of the most hated countries in the world?
Anything to do with labour funding?
Anything to do with Lord Lavy?
We've been had.
We have known for a while
We have known for a while that bLiar and NuLabia (love that one!) have been bought but maybe they have sold their souls to more than one devil???
"Another reason for the
"Another reason for the ennui is that people are maybe a bit burned out."
Agreed, but I think there's more to it than that. Previously, despite a general mistrust of political motives and rolling of eyeballs whenever someone's hand was caught in the till/brown envelope/secretary, most of us thought that 'they' shared at least some of our fears and aspirations and that when things went wrong, it was more often a cockup than a conspiracy.
In short, we had a bit of trust left, but now it's all used up, and we're not sure what to do next. I'm not, anyway, so I'm writing this instead...
Another reason for the quiet
Another reason for the quiet here is the knowledge that Bu$hCo would use violence to make us an even more draconian police state.
The Americans are scared
The Americans are scared shitless. A ten minute clip by Chomsky
Bush "You're either with us or you're with the terrorists".
If you look at his families Nazi history wouldn't you be scared? His dad is like satan and he's got the biggest crime sheet in the states. They even think he's spraying the public with toxic chemicals called chemtrails out of planes. George Bush is a total nut.
I reckon more and more
I reckon more and more people are noticing who stands in the background egging on the attack dogs in Washington. The Zionists do indeed have a lot to answer for!
Despite the name I know enough to know Bush's exit alone would not change that much.
If any of the above would like to argue the Israeli side I'm sure plenty would like to debate the facts.
If by chance we hear any cries of "anti semite!" we know they have nothing...
I got the wrong clip above
I got the wrong clip above this is the correct one: Terrifying the Population They tell ridiculous lies and spread fear to win elections and hush the population. Now they're releasing reports about mexican immigrants with special pills for a nuclear fallout. So many Americans will buy anything.
The Israeli/Jewish lobbies
The Israeli/Jewish lobbies here have dragged our name through the mud. If you go to theyworkforyou.com and check out MPs interests, all the MPs who get all expenses paid Labour Friends Of Israel trips to Israel come back and pass laws in their favour or fight their apartheid corner in parliament.
Did anyone notice how Kym Howells changed his tune after he arrived in Israel? David Cameron and David Davis both had to grovel to conservative friends of israel and explain how they would help them "fight terrorism" (ie. kill pallestinians) to get their approval. Did you hear that fat bloke fighting the Jewish corner for the lib dems today regarding their slaughter of Lebanon?
Why has the EU/UN gone in to Lebanon and created a buffer zone in Lebanons territory? The Israelis are stealing Lebanese land and the EU/UN are letting them. They run the show and it makes me sick. 320 km square land grab after they were supposed to give the shiba farms back. Our allies.
Here is an interesting article called "Lebanon Our Land: Obligatory War" all in the name of God.
Here's an excerpt:
"The Tanach specifies repeatedly that the Lebanon is part of the Promised Land. So is the entire “approach to Hamath to the Euphrates River.†Tanach specifies that Canaanites lived in these regions, for example, greater Sidon, and archaeologists have found Canaanite ruins north of Beirut. (Torah calls Sidon “the first born of Canaan,†Genesis 10:15). The topography of the Land, “the foundations of the earth†further emphasize the area of Israel’s inheritance."
Research Jewish history before it is made illegal, I've found out so much about their past. The ADL is there to prevent us from seeing just what they have done time and time again. They caught Mel Phillips today campaigning for exxon against the environment. Check out the anti-environmentalists, more of the same.
There may be a Jewish lobby,
There may be a Jewish lobby, but this lobby is not the reason that Israel exists, and it is not the cause of the recent aggression. Israel is there and aggressive purely because it suits US/UK strategic interests in the Middle East. Israel is the oil corporations' unsinkable aircraft carrier.
Thanks SWING for the
Thanks SWING for the demolition of the "very real points" of the Zionist lobby.
Demo-fatigue with ole frog, and work piling up .... so just concentrating on occasional demolition of the mistranslations of tha Amadinejihad speech.
Check out the end-timers.
Check out the end-timers. The unholy christian-jewish alliance. Brainwashing, funding, donations and lots of apocalyptic war cries and anti-peace movements. Soon the whole of Lebanon will be theirs because God says so...
They have videos on the net which are very funny but so many believe in their apocalyptical end time land reclaiming "God promised us it all" bollocks. People put millions & millions & millions of dollars in to Jewish charities thanks to these fakes. The money gets used to kill Arabs and reclaim land.
Well, no Israel is not there
Well, no Israel is not there because of the lobby. It is there because the Zionists engineered it over decades and our own (UK) government wrote out the Balfour Declaration so the Zionists would get the USA into WW1. This was used after WW2 together with a large dollop of terrorism and general mayhem to steal the land with more political help from America. It is always worth remembering most of the original Israeli's were Ashkenazis and have no Semitic heritage, i.e no ancient connection with the holy land.
I'm sure oil does indeed play a big part in the thinking of the US. They know about Peak Oil like anybody else and they are not wholly controlled by the Zionist lobby but it is a fact that the vast majority of Senators and Congressmen will not say boo to Israel for fear of being trampled by AIPAC.
There was no oil to be gained by killing innocent people in Lebanon or by leaving behind countless cluster bombs.
