Quote of the Week
Yup, that's right, we should trust government, not only that, we should trust this government, over ID cards?!
This pearl of wisdom was bought to you by Home Office minister Liam Byrne. He has looked at the figures, and he reckons he can get the cost of ID cards down, so nothing to worry about there then...
But hang on a minute, Liam Byrne, isn't he the Minister who still has shares in the company he founded? 'E-Government Solutions Ltd' , which has provided computer services to eight police forces? This, of course, has nothing to do with his plan for keeping the costs of the ID debacle down, by moving away from very large contracts being farmed out to the big IT companies. Instead suggesting there would be more, smaller deals on offer...
After unwelcome publicity Byrne has said he intends selling his shares - but isn't that what he said that when he became a Health Minister last year?
Time for some PPP Liam! Who
Time for some PPP Liam!
Who stands to gain most from ID cards? - The banks who lose billions through identity theft.
License Experian to create and run the scheme, building on top of their credit reference databases which we're nearly all on anyway, and works so wonderfully (mostly). They can sell us all identities, (subject to regulation by IDIOT), and charge the security services, police and others to access the data (free access for CIA and other US agencies obviously)
This way you will have no upfront costs and may even be able to run an auction for the right to run it. You know it makes sense!
Think about it (and tremble).
