A covert naval build-up in the Persian Gulf and the Eastern Mediterranean
According to a detailed and well-sourced article in Global Research, a covert naval build-up is underway in the Persian Gulf and the Eastern Mediterranean under the pretext of U.N. peacekeeping. If true, this could be the strongest signal yet of a new war in the region directed against Syria and Iran. There has been much speculation about a wider conflict in the region over the last few months but this looks like evidence of actual preparations for it.

While this deployment is said to be related to ongoing military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the warships are carrying with them equipment which is not intended for these two war theaters. Minesweepers and mine-hunters have absolutely no use in landlocked Afghanistan and are not needed in Iraq which has a maritime corridor and ports totally controlled by the Anglo-American alliance.
If, as the article suggests, this is happening with under the auspices of the U.N. then maybe this explains why Britain's support for the candidate most likely to become the next Secretary General of the U.N., Ban Ki Moon, was conditional upon the job of under-secretary-general for the Department of Political Affairs going to a British official.
In other news America is setting aside £11 million for a party to celebrate its success in Iraq.

All that's now needed is a Gulf of Tonkin type incident and it's bombs away.
Watch that stock market climb. Killing for profit in your name... shouldn't you be doing something?

By the lord harry, I'd love to see what their definitions of success are. Could it be they are actually aiming for a final solution in Iraq, and 3,000 deaths a month is the first milestone towards it?

Are they fucking joking or what?

The article also mentions: "provision for the money to roll over into 2007 if it was not used in the current period"
Or 2008/9/10? Perhaps it will serve as a commiseration fund...
Come to think of it, didn't Bush declare the war won just a few months in? Not only does his idea of winning differ from most, but he seems to be anticipating doing it twice!
Rumour seen in various
Rumour seen in various places on the net is that the carrier is USS Enterprise, due to be de-commissioned shortly anyway. Ideal(cheap)way of scrapping an end-of-life vessel to be used as the main player in a false-flag "terrist" attack. Not so cheap will be the inevitable loss of US Navy lives, which of course, will be the casus-belli that will trigger any one of a number of October surprises.
That would also be a handy
That would also be a handy way of disposing of its eight(!) nuclear reactor's worth of waste on someone else's doorstep. Like the depleted uranium, it will keep on killing for thousands of years. That's good value for a piece of equipment that's designed to kill and nothing else.

The loss of any life, let alone US servicemen's lives, is of absolutely no consequence to the government unless the mothers of the dead do stuff that causes embarrassment.
BBC bias on 'have your say'
BBC bias on 'have your say' is reaching ridiculous levels. Today myself and half a dozen friends submitted 20 posts on the main topic of discussion 'should moslem women wear veils', which is a response to Jack Straw's views.
http://newsforums.bbc.co.uk/nol/thread.jspa?threadID=4123&edition=1
a) 10 were pro freedom of expression, i.e. people can wear what they like.
b) 10 were in support of moslems being more 'British'.
Of the 10 posts supporting 'a', exactly zero were published by the moderators. They were polite and perfectly sensible comments which offended no one.
Of the 10 posts supporting 'b' eight were published, in spite of three of them being factually wrong and leaning toward rascism.
Reading the other comments posted there it was noticed that some were uncannily similar to a few of the 'a' list (in one case using the exact same wording of one sentance) except they were now supporting view 'b' and of course the names had changed.
Why is the BBC encouraging more division and hatred of the moslem community? Apparently only about 10,000 moslem women wear face veils anyway, out of 60,000,000 people. Hardly worth talking about is it?
Anyone who listens to the
Anyone who listens to the 9am Radio 5 phone in (motto: 'What's the Daily Mail Headline Today?') will know the BBC's dumbing down consists partly of promoting violent debate over representative debate. What we need is a bit more bias in favour of wishy-washy dogooder liberals, eh?
The build-up is a little
The build-up is a little less covert now. The Eisenhower Carrier Group has set sail for Iran.
The Eisenhower strike force, according to my sources, is scheduled to arrive in the vicinity of Iran around October 21, at the same time as a second flotilla of minesweepers and other ships.
This build-up of naval power around the coast of Iran, according to some military sources, is in preparation for an air attack on Iran that would target not just Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities, but its entire military command and control system.
Is it time to start getting seriously worried yet?
It now seems that North
It now seems that North Korea (nuclear or just lots of HE?) bomb test was aimed at taking the US focus away from Iran, e.g. US cannot gain political support for attacking Iran over a non-existent weapons program while NK actually does have these weapons but merely faces sanctions.
I beleive that NK has acted in accordance with China despite the public comments. China is seriously opposed to US attack on Iran. The attack has been planned for a number of years and is just awaiting final mobilistation and the 'go' order.
The timing of the mobilistation has been scheduled for at least the last 9 months, so Bush is definately going to do something before Novemeber elections. We'll probably see US ships getting 'attacked' first by a surface to ship missile or similiar in a few weeks time.
And if the US haven't got the stomach for it I'm sure Israel will oblige by killing a few US citizens and blaming it on Iran (like they have done so often in their short history).
