I hope that those ex-servicemen who are there would make the point of turning their backs on Blair. But I also know that those very same individuals have enough dignity and humanity not to do so.

A pity, really, that the whole ceremony will be marred by the presence of a man who has studiously ignored every other opportunity to show his face at the funerals of those whom he has so casually sent to their deaths. Shame on him and his acolytes. They are scum.

Those who have fought in and survived so many wars, and those who died for their country, deserve our profound gratitude and honour. They must never be forgotten.

The most moving Remembrance Sunday is on Great Gable, a magnificent Cumbrian fell. It was bought by members of the fell and rock climbing club as a memorial to their members who were killed in the first world war and donated to the National Trust.

I totaly agree and i think politicians should not attend at all because they start the wars
and the brave soldiers have to fight them.Blair is a hypocrite and belives his own bullshit,if he says/thinks it then it must be true.

Beyond nauseating, beyond hypocritical, beyond decent. How this vile little man dare show his face anywhere in public, let alone at the Cenotaph on this day, defies comprehension. Once again the Great Pretender will slap on his No 1 solemn face and insult the courage and selflessness of those whom he has ordered to death.

Do you suppose that every now and then he looks into the mirror and sees what everyone else now sees - a vain, shallow man who only ever wanted power and who would do whatever it took to get it and keep it.

one of the greatest lies in this country is that those poor buggers sent mercilessly to their deaths by gutless politicians died for 'freedom, liberty and democracy' - what a load of bollocks, they died for capital, vanity and greed. history needs re-writing, and re-telling truthfully so that we do not see the same mistakes happen over and over again.

As it says on the Cenotaph 'The Glorious Dead' - seems kind of a sick thing to say about people that were blown to pieces, drowned or died in a thousand other ways with suffering we cannot even begin to imagine. Is that glorious?

Only a sicko would say or think that and yet there it is, writ large in stone on an eddifice that is more a testament to the failure of generations of politicians than to the 'glorious death' of our fellow countrymen. How very obscene.

Most of fatalities of war in the 20th and 21st century are in fact non-combatant civilians that are killed by the armed services that we hold up to be something good and worthwhile - where's the memorial services for these people then?

We have learnt nothing. We sent those troops to die in WWI needlessly, and we have a donkey leading our troops to die on behalf of American Corporate interests in Iraq.

Blair is a liar, and coward and has sold our troops down the river. He should not be involved in tomorrow's events. Its quite clear he doesn't give a shit how many are killed by his reluctance to visit the injured, or spend money on decent equipment. He refuses to visit military families, and doesn't send condolence letters (unlike Thatcher).

We think (ex)servicemen turning backs on this traitor, murderer and criminal would be, far from lacking dignity, a gesture of profound humanity and a dignified slap in the face to the one who effectively murdered their comrades.

What stroke me was the contrast: the honoring of the dead by the 'Military families against the war'(the ones that died because of Blairs sickening politics) is called a 'criminal offence' by the Blairites.

But as soon as the dying is long ago and far away from daily life Blairs face pops up and he starts honoring the military dead.

What a hypocracy. Should he not stop murdering in stead of showing his face.

Those who have died (and still living) in this war must never be forgotton yes, I ageee - never forgotton for the illegality of their actions and for the utter horror they have given the people of Iraq. I won't forget - dont worry.

The Glorious Dead

This is the way they play the game. They make it look as if there is something honourable about death, they feed dumb soldiers (I remember the squaddie wannabe's at school!) with wrong ideas of how good and patriotic they are. In reality they go off to slaughter people for the wealth and power enrichment of an elite.

There is only one way to die Gloriously for ones country, and that is DEFENDING IT by opposing waring invaders as the Iraqi resistance and Afghan Muja's are doing now.

Let's remember all those who died to keep China British. They gave so much to ensure a wealthy elite the continual benefits of colonialism. Let's remember all those who died in meanlingless bosses wars, from Afghanistan to Greece.

Why don't we remember those who died for something more than imperial greed and power? Lets remember those who died on picket lines and in public uprisings. Remember the popular movements that really gave us our freedoms. From the chartists to poll tax protesters.

I like your comments very much, and I agree. People who died for those causes, which give liberation to others are the kind of people worthy of rememberance. The others should be shoved in the dusbin of imperialist history.

Well, Blair adopts every American neocon attitude going, and you only have to look at the disgusting treatment of Cindy Sheehan by the American press and the Bushites in general to see what an embarrassment they think grieving mothers are. Mrs Cargan is lucky he didn't start a smear campaign against her in the Murdoch press.
