Donorgate : and the shredders started whirling
Blair and New Labour may not end up in the dock - and I am convinced Lord Goldsmith will play Tony,'Get out of Jail Free' card should it start looking dangerous. Wouldn't it be interesting if he tried to do a Bersculoni and claim it's not in the national interest to arrest a Prime Minister?
But this inquiry is toxic for New Labour and the drip, drip effect is going to do for Blair what it did for Major. Each day the stench of corruption grows, each day they look more and more grubby.
Jonathan Powell is going to be interviewed under caution and files relating to donors have been shredded.
In the background the war between Blair and Brown is keeping this alive. Blair's blaming Levy, Levy's blaming Blair and they would both be happy to sideline as much blame onto Brown as possible.
Meanwhile it looks like Blair misled or actually lied to the police in his interview with them.
If that's not enough the head of the Serious Fraud Office says blair gave into Saudi Blackmail, that they had plenty of evidence and sources are claiming the police were bugged
No wonder even No 10 realise they're seen as a shambles
They were going to arrest
They were going to arrest Blair, but they were given information about a specific threat to British security from charging the Prime Minister with a crime. So that's all right then.
No, you can't see the information.
I see from the links that
I see from the links that shredding files is consistent with Whitehall 'Best Practices'. The pressure on filing cabinet space is understandable.
If only there were computers in Whitehall and it was possible for them to keep electronic records.
"Sir Christopher's notes,
"Sir Christopher's notes, which refer to Levy, suggest he was asked if he wanted 'a k (knighthood) or a big p (peerage)'."
This is a deliberate smear. He was actually only asking him if he wanted a Koke or a Pepsi.
This is, in my opinion, just
This is, in my opinion, just the endgame in the controlled demolition of th labour party, and one in which the prime minister is just a hopeless patsy. He done what he's been told and now can be discarded.
