It's a shame that Field has lost his marbles. He had been known to talk sense occasionally. Has it occured to him that the cops also do other things apart from chase after potential terrorists or investigate NuLab sleaze (as a direct result of formal complaint, and which they are therefore bound to do)? Quite what, of course, can be open to conjecture...

But they're all in defensive mode now. Lashing out at the cops or anyone that they can think of to divert attention from the more serious issues of corruption in high places.

This is ridiculous and illogical stuff even by their standards. It's not even worth pointing out the mile wide holes in the theory such as that the police might just have both a Fraud Squad and an Anti Terrorist Squad.

And let's not forget that Sir Ian Blair (no relation) has successfully predicted 19 of the last 0 terrorist attacks. If the Police are going to stop investigating crimes while there's a predicted terrorist attack then the arrest rate is going to be about zero.

Still it's good to see them attacking the Police, as it's sure to have consequences in the leaking and covering up departments ...

The director of public prosecutions, Sir Ken Macdonald, put himself at odds with the home secretary and Downing Street last night by denying that Britain is caught up in a "war on terror" and calling for a "culture of legislative restraint" in passing laws to deal with terrorism.

I wonder what the Blair (both) response will be!

I never thought I'd find myself agreeing with the DPP, but reading the transcript from the link by 'lifesastumblingblock' was a revelation.

I wonder if they can take a peerage away so he can be plain ol' Ken and not Sir Ken?

The only question now is how long will he keep his job before Tone's crones get to him or get him out.

Small nit-picking point, but maybe slightly significant. Sir Ken received a Knighthood rather than a Peerage.

The significance? Well it means that he is not in a position to repeat those trenchant views in debates in the House of Lords. But perhaps in the light of the ongoing emasculation of the Lords by this ghastly manipulative government that is less important now.

As to getting to Sir Ken, well that may depend on whether the Cronies think it's worthwhile crossing the DPP - some of them must be a trifle concerned about recent police activities...
