"A successful terrorist attack on London could make part of the capital uninhabitable for decades and make Britain permanently poorer. Yet, while London awaits its fate, Scotland Yard is fiddling away on an enquiry into the alleged sale of honours. How can the Metropolitan commissioner defend this enquiry as the best use of scarce police resources?"

Of course you have to ask
Of course you have to ask yourself which of the two is most likely - a terrorist attack or yet more NuLab perfidy? My money's on the latter.
It's a shame that Field has lost his marbles. He had been known to talk sense occasionally. Has it occured to him that the cops also do other things apart from chase after potential terrorists or investigate NuLab sleaze (as a direct result of formal complaint, and which they are therefore bound to do)? Quite what, of course, can be open to conjecture...
But they're all in defensive mode now. Lashing out at the cops or anyone that they can think of to divert attention from the more serious issues of corruption in high places.
No words.
No words.

Frankie boy is a peculiar case: thatcherite godnut tempered by the occasional principled stand. He has a nasty authoritarian and moralistic outlook on life - probably a symptom of his New Labour Encephalopathy for which the prognosis is grim.
I'm glad to see that Frank
I'm glad to see that Frank Field got well and truely slated in the comments on CiF.
Of course, what we're all
Of course, what we're all agog to hear is whether an attack could make London uninhabitable in forty five minutes!
Why are the police chasing
Why are the police chasing motoring offenders when there are more important things for them to do? Perhaps arrest Frankie goes to hollywood, for blocking the streets of London with bullshit
I used to have some respect
I used to have some respect for Frank Fields, but that article from him?
Now what has the poodle got on Frank to make him embarass himself so much in public?
Is NuLabor like CJD?
As it seems to have the same affect on people!
This is ridiculous and
This is ridiculous and illogical stuff even by their standards. It's not even worth pointing out the mile wide holes in the theory such as that the police might just have both a Fraud Squad and an Anti Terrorist Squad.
And let's not forget that Sir Ian Blair (no relation) has successfully predicted 19 of the last 0 terrorist attacks. If the Police are going to stop investigating crimes while there's a predicted terrorist attack then the arrest rate is going to be about zero.
Still it's good to see them attacking the Police, as it's sure to have consequences in the leaking and covering up departments ...

What a bit of work. I must admit I thought it was a scam/april fools or *something* for the first 2 paragraphs. Maybe my irony gland was still suffering from chrismas or Im simply too old to get the post modern thang.

I never thought someone like
I never thought someone like Field would stoop so low. Whether he had his arm twisted or was bribed is irrelevant. He has sold out just like the rest. I discount entirely the possibility he believes in what he said!
Yeah right, a dozen or two coppers investigating New Labour finances increases the probability of terrorists succeeding to such a degree they should cry off and go and investigate some Muslim fundamentalists. It is risible.
His remarks enjoy about the same level of credibility that John Reid's did.

"A successful outbreak of meaningful justice could make large parts of Parliament uninhabitable for decades and force many M.P's back into consensus reality. Yet while Parliament awaits its fate, Scotland Yard is fiddling away on a serious enquiry into the sort of large scale corrupution and fraud that's toppled numerous governments in Italy. How can the Metropolitan commissioner defend this enquiry as the best use of generous police resources? Surely the police should focus their energies on distracting public attention by bullying whichever minority Rupert Murdoch tells them to?, what's going on here..?"
Amen.
This is a first: 'There is
This is a first:
'There is no war on terror'
The director of public prosecutions, Sir Ken Macdonald, put himself at odds with the home secretary and Downing Street last night by denying that Britain is caught up in a "war on terror" and calling for a "culture of legislative restraint" in passing laws to deal with terrorism.
I wonder what the Blair (both) response will be!
Agree with the DPP???? I
Agree with the DPP????
I never thought I'd find myself agreeing with the DPP, but reading the transcript from the link by 'lifesastumblingblock' was a revelation.
"The criminal justice response to terrorism must be proportionate ane grounded in due proces and the rule of law"
I wonder if they can take a peerage away so he can be plain ol' Ken and not Sir Ken?
The only question now is how long will he keep his job before Tone's crones get to him or get him out.
Small nit-picking point, but
Small nit-picking point, but maybe slightly significant. Sir Ken received a Knighthood rather than a Peerage.
The significance? Well it means that he is not in a position to repeat those trenchant views in debates in the House of Lords. But perhaps in the light of the ongoing emasculation of the Lords by this ghastly manipulative government that is less important now.
As to getting to Sir Ken, well that may depend on whether the Cronies think it's worthwhile crossing the DPP - some of them must be a trifle concerned about recent police activities...

Frank Field is a bit of a nutter. However, I feel we should show him the same Christian compassion as he shows to other unfortunate members of society and therefore all unite in a little prayer for him. God bless you, Guv!
