Blairwatch After Blair

With Cherie thumbing through Rumbelows catalogues, it's time for us to think about what we shall do after Blair. Well, the weblog will continue as Blairwatch and we hope to broaden our coverage and have guest bloggers writing occasionally.
One idea is to become a foundation and take our perspectives and questions into the 'real world' by interacting with other organisations and people. We hope to set up the legal side shortly.
There are a great many who feel that politics is somehow broken and feel marginalised. Our response is to get active rather than sink into a cynical despair, although we understand how following public life can have that very effect.
Our weblog and foundation's aim is to watch, report and comment on the political scene and go out there and join the debate and make our own and our readers' voices heard. We will make alliances with other organisations on a wide range of themes and we're also going to listen and learn. We have no fixed position or intellectual credo to advocate, we're just concerned citizens who wish to play a part in bringing forward the progressive agenda that Blair promised and never delivered.
Please let us know your thoughts on this and on our 'logo in waiting'.
An interesting idea but
An interesting idea but wasn't that the idea behind the Power Inquiry and their latest website offering:
http://makeitanissue.org.uk ???
Additionally, they have money and resources to burn and have some very prominent insiders e.g. Helena Kennedy QC, Billy Bragg, etc.
Perhaps you'd like to blog on how you're going to be different?
We are hoping to cover more
We are hoping to cover more issues than just electoral reform and party funding which is the primary focus of the Power Inquiry. We broadly agree with the findings of the Power Inquiry and hope to work with it, but it is possible we may also find other ideas which aren't in its remit. Accountability in government is an area we'd like to explore for example.
Blair may be circling the
Blair may be circling the drain but the repercussions of what he has been doing will surely continue for a long time to come. So keep up the good work. Also, when all is done and dusted, it's an absolute certainty that there will be others who aspire to the same kind of perfidy as Blair so there will always be a need for 'Blairwatch' or 'Son of Blairwatch'. You help to keep us sane...
"We have no fixed position
"We have no fixed position or intellectual credo to advocate, we're just concerned citizens who wish to play a part in bringing forward the progressive agenda that Blair promised and never delivered."
"Subjects" chaps, we do still have a monarchy after all!
Keep up the good work, shall be watching with interest.

An edifying statement of
An edifying statement of intent. Unfortuntely we don't have 'politics,' instead we have elections.
Why not set up a 'think
Why not set up a 'think tank' that is designed to be non-partisan? You can then register as a charity - as per IPPR, Smith Institute, Policy Exchange and a host of others.
I'm sure it would be easy to set up.
You could be B Watch or B Ware.

"Format" Question ? BW
"Format" Question ?
BW reacts every day to the latest news, and comments then slowly flow in.
Usually predictable, and becoming so much so that I often can't be bothered to post anymore. Bitch-slapping Blair is cheap and eventually boring.
Many excellent posts of the day then disappear down the BW MemoryHole, into the Archives. VERY Discouraging.
Blair's psychology is fascinating --- many of us sussed him early as a weird personality driven to Power without any 'fundamental' good sense. Leo Abse had a try at analysing him. As has Matthew Parris , one among a few .
Many years ago an excellent Para Gunner captain taught me & others the importance of 'defining the objective' .
I've been surprised at BW that you have not got your act more together. Tom on railways is excellent, BUT what does he want next ?
My answer is simple -- Renationalise gradually, and call the new thing "British Rail".
Like when they wanted to change the name of the Post Office at vast expense ...and came back to square one.
Take a few themes -- The Psychology of Blair, PFI's, and have some long-running threads.
Daily news is valuable, but have both.
In your present format you are ineffective.
I think it would be a
I think it would be a mistake to remain as Blairwatch, when he's gone casual observers will think you're irrelevant, I would favour a mutation to govt/accountability/britain/empire/reform -watch. Something like that (but better obviously, I'm not married to the watch) because you/we/everyone is bigger than that one deluded man. The think-tank idea is not bad, you get a lot more regard in traditional media than blogs so it would be a good way to infiltrate the discourse (and give the punditocracy a good kicking). Daily Kos as a model of group blogging isn't bad, though we should avoid the humour bypass.
Perhaps I could make some
Perhaps I could make some comments that are intended to be helpful and may resonate with some? To use ‘conspiracy theories’ to dismiss the comments I make is not, I think, reasonable.
1 It is, correctly, said that ‘There are a great many who feel that politics is somehow broken and feel marginalised….’ And many would agree that ‘to get active rather than sink into a cynical despair’ is an admirable aim. But equally many would say that such a response is unlikely to achieve very much.
In fact is it not an axiom that almost without exception one achieves the opposite to what is intended?
2 What is democracy?
If starting from scratch there is something to be said for groups of citizens (constituency’s) electing a local citizen to represent them in parliament. 600 or so MP’s could then organize themselves in such a way as satisfies democratic principles.
Fast forward and the MP’s organize themselves into ‘Party’s’ (quite a good description) and we’re left with what we’ve got. The manipulation by political party’s in order to get elected needs no elaboration; and ‘voting’ is largely to keep party’s out rather than in.
Let’s face it we do not have a democracy; we have party politics and governments largely put in place by the media (and, unbelievably, largely foreign media)
Behind all of our ‘democratic system’ is one thing; money.
Is it realistic that groupings such as BW can do anything about the situation?
3 Who runs the show?
For many hundreds (thousands) of years the ‘civilised world’ has consisted of those who ‘rule’ and those who are ruled; ie Slavery.
In modern times and especially since the 1900’s the community at large have become aware of the nature of the ‘system’ and those who rule have had to keep up with the times. Whereas many years ago pure ‘power’ was the weapon it has now reached the stage where it is pure ‘money’
Those who have the real power are clearly the same ‘families’ and ‘groupings that always existed. I, for one, have little idea who they are but secrecy has clearly become a necessary quality of the modern-day slave-drivers.
Basically we are all still slaves, albeit at a very different level to our forefathers, and money is the weapon of slavery.
‘Money’ does nothing; people do;
4 The foregoing can probably do little more than raise a smile on those who think of themselves as ‘thinkers’ but that surely matters little? What stage in the development of ‘politics’ are we at?
5 For decades it has been thought by many that we are destroying the planet. We now have the global warming issue on the ‘News’ and we are, for example, told to turn our tv’s off when not in use because of the energy used!!
The simple facts are, I would suggest, that it matters not a jot what is said about ‘global warming’, ‘nuclear war/accident’, ‘biological disasters’ etc. If somebody is ‘making money’ out of it, it will continue.
Why are we at war in various parts of the world? Money
‘Economics is Bunkum’
6 We have a (political) choice. Radically change our ‘monetary system’ or our planet will not continue to support human life.
Party Politics must be changed into a Democratic system.
The two are incompatible
This is both in reply to
This is both in reply to DAVID SCHILLER and along the lines of general comment. Yes our democracy is broken as like in America it all revolves around simple minded quotes and suppression of what goes on behind the scenes. What we do I know not but I think Mr Schiller hits on the most important topic, which is the debt backed monetary system we have which is a total outrage and is a Ponzi scheme that must end badly and may end with another solution proposed by the same crims ultimately responsible for what we have at the moment.
Turning to Blairwatch, I would called it Westminster Watch as they are all the same really, it really is like a Punch and Judy show watching those clowns.
Also I would drop any deletion of posts, aside from incitement to violence, i.e so called conspiracy posts (911, Zionist Mafia, etc) as this is intellectually repugnant, they should be moved to a specific area if they truly are unwanted by the majority (vote?)
Cheers.
International Peace
International Peace Conference
There is no other place to post this, so sorry, but may I suggest that the new Blairwatch/Deathwatch site link to UK parliamentary reform as well as the peace movement at home and on the international scene?
As such, I’d like to let you know that the third International peace conference is taking place once again on Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Please check out the site at http://www.perdana4peace.org/
One can download speeches by highly respected academics, experts, scientists, peace activists and journalists. (Some please note, list of invited speakers includes Dr. Christopher Busby Scientific Secretary of European Committee on Radiation Risk who some here label as a quack without any basis whatsoever)
So here’s to firing another dart in the Tony dartboard. Thanks be to G-d that this killers spree is drawing to a close.
frog, DAVID SCHILLER and eh
frog, DAVID SCHILLER and eh up, raise good points. A Westminster Watch seems like a very good name, as I am sure the majority of people here are smarter than many who are lead astray by the 'party' fraud, so whatever new face is put in to cover the same old slime, we can still bitch-slap with relevance, when the need or urge arises.
A bias towards affairs UK would be to the sites credit, but may I suggest a simple column for studies relating to "WARZONE NEWS (Afghanistan, Iraq.....)", "PEACE (movements, events organisations", ECONOMICS (commodities, globalization)", and "HISTORY (past wars, major events)" because I believe that {especially of the latter two}, it is essential one appreciates these to really understand and appreciate what goes on today.
It need not be difficult to do. Users could post articles in the relevant section and it would draw in a much wider readership. On the main screen simply show the headline for each article to keep the site tidy, which can be clicked on to reveal actual article and comments.
I agree that censorship is indefensible as should not be practiced. Unless the site is spammed. Thankfully, on the whole, the BW team have conducted themselves with great dignity despite the odd fracarse {my little spoonerism} and are to be commended.
TA
You should just call it
You should just call it Brownwatch. The continuity will be seamless. Okay he'll be les of a wank than Blair and will try and distance himself from the odd bloodbath here and there but other than that...
Dont go all bland on us, watching out for 'fraud' is such a straight boring already-covered approach. We dont need to watch out for it its lapping up to iur frigging oxters!!!

Blairwatch is quite a catchy
Blairwatch is quite a catchy name, and to those of us who have seen the light it connotes all sorts of things that, taken together, signify the "New Labour" brand. Things like:
1. Governing by the simple technique of continuously trying to find out what "the peepul" want, and then immediately rushing to do it - whether it makes any sense or not. (Unless it clashes with one of their a priori shibboleths such as the need to attack Middle Eastern countries or the wrongness of smacking children, in which case the peepul can go hang).
2. Utterly failing to grasp the simple, basic ideas of honour, decency, and accountability that have hitherto held our unwritten constitution together. Just as a racing car is not designed to be driven by any fool who has just passed his driving test, the British constitution can only be effectively operated by people who understand and live by those ideals. New Labour politicians think that "I take responsibility for everything that has gone wrong" means "It is my business, not yours, so keep your nose out and allow me to deal with it (or not) as and when the mood takes me". Whereas it ought to mean "...and therefore I resign forthwith".
3. Believing - after Goebbels - that if you lie consistently and assiduously, on an ambitious enough scale, an adequate plurality of the common people will believe you - more or less. (And the rest can go hang).
4. Transplanting the methods of modern marketing, wholesale, into government.
5. Having the utterly mistaken idea that "governing" means "deciding how you think the world ought to be, and telling other people to go and make it happen". Followed, inevitably, by blaming the other people - whether generals, civil servants, teachers, doctors, or whoever - for the predictable failure to achieve the indicated goals. It would be nice to have some ministers back in power who understand that making things happen is actually their job, not everyone else's.
Those seem to me to be the essentials. Minor matters like trying to destroy the UK, setting as many people as possible at each other's throats, invading and devastating other people's countries for no special reason, and steadily raising taxes while utterly failing to accomplish anything useful can wait for another day.
Good last post. It is so
Good last post. It is so hard trying to fit all of Blair's criminal doings (which would result in at least 10 lifetime sentences in any normal judicial system) into 200 or so words.
Yes, I would keep "Blairwatch" - lest we forget!
Alternatively, something Orwellian, like "Nuspeak". Then that brings in the "Nu Lab" reference. Heavens only knows what we will get under Brown. Noo Lab?
So how do we join? I would
So how do we join? I would really like to get involved beyond this blog.

Keep it as Blairwatch and the lying two-faced cash for honours, war in Iraq etc that "THINGS CAN ONLY BETTER" sham/sharlaton that he is.
Blair should be the lowest benchmark.
MOD Lying dogs. I want the
MOD Lying dogs.
I want the MOD liars who denied the existence of the A-10 cockpit footage prosecuted for perjury, conspiracy and treason. What is/are the name/s of the person/s who told this lie. How to bring this/these cretin/s to court?
Then to make matters worse the MOD say they cant override that US secret classification (oh, by the way, we the MOD apologise for lying about the existence of this tape. We will take immediate measures to fire the person that tried to cover up the death of a British soldier). Please tell me what treaty the UK government has signed which issues supremacy to US political and military issues and documents. Surely there must be one, I mean, surely the MOD wouldn't lie to us would they?
What scum. They care more about protecting US butchery than they do about the lives of their own soldiers. No wonder the MOD has to ensure it prevents its soldiers from asking questions/speaking out otherwise the nasty goals of the politicians would never materialise.
YUCK!
Seconded Akiller. From
Seconded Akiller.
From personal knowledge, the Mod in 1966 was encouraging troops to participate in "experiments" at Porton Down. .
It always WAS an enemy of the soldiery. And their families.
PS I didn't !
I wonder whether keeping
I wonder whether keeping 'BlairWatch' is sensible or not.
When Blair does leave office hopefully his disastrous period can be put behind us and we can concentrate on the future. Whoever takes over it is by no means certain that things won't get worse and I think if it is Brown we are in for further and possibly even worse times ahead. Apart from all else he's said to be an 'economist' God help us (or should that be Allah leave us alone?)
Perhaps keeping the name BW could lead to a false sense of security in linking future failures, until after the next general election at least, back to Blair and ease the pressure on his successor.
If it is intended to maintain the site the opportunity could be taken to change the name to something less personal. I believe that whoever is 'in charge' is unduly influenced by those with the real and effective power and Blair could well have done the dirty work for his puppeteers and in fact totally failed to achieve his own agenda. (Blair may regret his wasted opportunity's and even a job with Murdoch will be little compensation; let's hope Rupert does employ him, they deserve one another. Is the BBC on it's way to Murdoch? That could be Blairs current aim?)
Seconded (or, rather,
Seconded (or, rather, thirded).
"Blairwatch" may continue to
"Blairwatch" may continue to be a relevant title for a blog for some time to come. Blair hasn't gone yet - he is still PM and is quite capable of coming up with all kinds of excuses for why he shouldn't go quite yet (eg "if I go now it will be an admission of guilt" etc). Even when he ceases to be PM he will have his new foundation or think-tank as a vehicle, and he will be giving speeches in the UK or USA or elsewhere that will get a lot of coverage. He has many allies that he has left behind in the HoC and LP. You may find that he begins to say things (or do things) that throw a lot of light on what he has been doing for the last 10 years. You may begin to see who he is linking with and what the agenda has been.
NuLab has some of the characteristics of a Marxist political sect. It believes that globalisation (and not socialism) is inevitable and that this means that continued (and growing) American influence throughout the world is inevitable. It believes that anyone who questions these things is a Luddite or has lost the plot or just doesn't get it or is a conservative or is a loser. It bullies those anyone who questions globalisation or American power (in the same way that Marxist political sects bully people who ask questions). Even when Blair is not PM you will probably see continuing efforts to shut down political debate on these issues, especially if the Labour Party manages to start showing signs of political debate around these themes.
This will be worth watching, and it will be worthwhile having a vehicle for the debates that NuLab would prefer we don't have.
Given that my dictionary
Given that my dictionary defines politics as "the art of administration" how about Admin Watch - or something similar - as the new name. It would automatically imply a wide range of interest, not merely the dark doings of the elected to parliament but all those un-elected bodies that control our lives and truly non-partisan.
If you were Gordon
If you were Gordon Brown(nose), cocaine Cameron or coy Campbell, what you NOT want blairwatch to be called?
Perhaps this question is all we need to ask.

Well this excerpt from Apr
Well this excerpt from Apr 03 pissed me of as much as anyone can be pissed off, i mean the twat considered resigning if he *couldn't* go to war...WTF!
The following words are not of a sane or reasonable man:
"He said he had been ready to resign if he had been defeated in last month's vote authorising military action".
And:
"It was always possible that you could be in that situation. But the point is that some people are going to die as a result of your decision. In the end if you lose your premiership, well you lose it". (that is a truly f***** up statement....)
And:
"There were moments when it looked like we were getting bogged down, and 10 days in you were worried how long was this going to go.

Even though the bloke may be "on his way", I'm sure BW will still have material to play with for many moons to come....

May I suggest
May I suggest semi-retirement of BlairWatch, with less frequent updates on what the sad bastard is up to when he's no longer PM, chasing him right to the grave before we all stop for a pee on same?
That's assuming New Labour dies with his career, of course. If it continues to struggle on, you won't have any name-change issues, as the new PM will deserve the name Blair II.

Yes, keep the
Yes, keep the Blair-cum-Deathwatch site, as Mr "I'll resign unless I can kill people", for all his high crimes and atrocities must never have the outrage against him become silent.
There are too many in this world grieving over slaughtered husbands, children and wives to, whose sorry will never end, when this Satan from Sedgefield breathes his last breath.
So ponder on what to call the new sister site and what format it takes, but keep this rolling along, as no doubt Tony the 'Trocious will get that overwhelming desire to kill some more later, so, desperately unfortunately, there's not likely to be a lack of material to keep the site in perpetual motion.
No doubt about it, Tone
No doubt about it, Tone likes his self-righteous killing, its a dead give-away when he states that: 'Every time I have asked us to go to war, I have hated it'. Hmmmmmm.....
I really don't know if it is
I really don't know if it is healthy to feel so much outrage toward one persons administration. Surely the amount of peepul that feel such outrage must be in a minority? If it were otherwise the situation wouldn't exist, would it?
Or does our society simply find armed conflict on the whim of a madman (not to mention a pack of lies) acceptable practice???
Anna Nicole Smith. Such
Anna Nicole Smith.
Such outrage may be unhealthy, but its right.
Many people are only outraged when they watch it on the news, but once the news story turns to the death of Anna Nicole Smith, the outrage is put back in its box ready for the next news item. Afterall, its not their sons who are soddomised with broken glass then then shot, or their daughters pimped out to US demons who decides to free herself from this fate by hanging herself. The stench of death is very localized to Iraq. It does not penetrate British nostrils.
Whim of a madman - it certainly seems to be the case and its quite easy to understand why. After all Brits are the leaders of civilisation (so they often allow themselves to be told). What Regina says, world does - right? (so they have been conditioned to think)
Brits know best and must show others how 'its' done (so they have come to accept).

Watching 10?: I haven't
Watching 10?: I haven't quite got the hang of this blogging thing yet so this might be in the wrong place. The following copy of a letter, one of many, to Blair may be of interest to some and be relevent to current events in and around No 10:-
"Dear Mr Blair
Perverting the Course of Public Justice
I refer to recent comments by you regarding your ‘Right Honourable friend’ David Blunkett to the effect that he leaves office without any stain on his character
You may recall that some time ago several of your ‘Right Honourable’ friends, including Blunkett, were accused of conspiring to defeat Public Justice most notably (Law) Lords Hoffman, Berwick of Tweed, Cook of Thorndon, Hope of Craighead and Irvine of Lairg
Who instructed Irvine, clearly the judicial committee ring leader, remains a matter of speculation but since, following representations, you sacked him perhaps it wasn’t you?
The facts relating to the currently thwarted prosecutions suggest not only the guilt of the original accused but also the guilt of Stevens and Calvert-Smith (and others) on the charges against them
Having contacted many who ought to have been concerned the stage was reached where I had done all that could reasonably be expected at the time but that does not mean I have gone away
Times change and it remains for those accused of perverting our system of justice to be given the chance to exonerate themselves: in the meantime they remain accused and the system corrupt
As related before ‘the war’ there are those who believe ministers of the Crown should be held accountable for criminal conduct and that such conduct is capable of dire consequences especially if their culpability is protected by a perverse administration
An application for a Voluntary Bill of Indictment to issue against Rhoda remains unprocessed before the Supreme Court in Gibraltar
Blunkett and others remain charged (inter alia) with Perverting the Course of Public Justice and his character was and remains stained although such stain may be spread so wide amongst you and your Honourable friends that it may be difficult to distinguish it
The text of this letter will be copied to some of your Honourable friends who have shown no concern in the past and to others
Sincerely D A Schiller"
I'm actually slightly
I'm actually slightly perturbed that we're even talking about 'Blairwatch after Blair'. I share the view, which seems to be at least entertained by many people that we can close the chapter on this man as Prime Minister only when he is a) Turning out his pockets for the Duty Sergeant at his local nick b) Carried out of Downing Street in a body bag, or c) Quietly and gently removed in a straightjacket, en route to a 'safe place for the night'.
I really don't think this megalomaniac will leave any other way.
Assuming that we can get the
Assuming that we can get the sod out of No.10, whether in cuffs or special jacket, I am of the opinion that this website should become 'Son-of-BlairWatch' for the very simple reason that the Charlatan's deadly influence will continue to be felt for some time after he's left the scene of the crime. 'The evil that men do lives on and on', to quote the mighty Iron Maiden!
