Congratulations to Brian Haw

Brian Haw has won the 'Channel 4 News Most Inspiring Political Figure Award'. The news isn't yet up on the Channel 4 News website so we'll have to make do with Indymedia and the Telegraph.

Mr Haw received 54 per cent of the votes cast by the public in the channel's political awards for 2007.

Gen Sir Richard Dannatt, the head of the British Army, who embarrassed the Government by saying troops should be withdrawn from Iraq, came second with 18 per cent.

Tony Blair was backed by eight per cent and David Cameron by six per cent.

So Channel 4 wasn't exaggerating when it described the win as "overwhelming". Thanks to all those who voted for Brian. It sends a clear message to the government which is trying to silence protests outside Parliament with its ridiculous SOCPA law. A small victory perhaps, but a victory nonetheless.

Bloody good for him. Great

Bloody good for him. Great result!

Thorns in the flesh are so irritating (and painful) aren't they? - and they're just going to have to endure a lot more of him

Excellent! But now for the worrying news:

Tony Blair was backed by eight per cent and David Cameron by six per cent.

I simply refuse to believe they got that much!! All postal votes I presume?

Why so little about this in the media? Remember last year, when Jamie Oliver won - it was headline news!

Could the media suppression

Could the media suppression be...

so that those Dimblebys wouldn't be embarrassed by a "question from the audience" about Brian's victory - and Blair's further embarassment?

The BBC suppress news so as

The BBC suppress news so as not to upset the Blair camp?
What an outrageous suggestion you make peacewisher!!
Who could be more searching in their fearless search for truth than the BBC political team?
Have you not seen some of the grilling's given to that stalwart of judicial independence and impartiality, Charlie Falconer, by, for example, Andrew Marr? What a credit to the worldwide reputation of the BBC Andrew really is.
And, it seems to me to his great credit, Tony, despite the pressure he is continually under from them, is doing all he can to keep the BBC independent and out of the hands of Murdoch.
Tony can't be all bad...........can he??

Dick,

Cheers for that, I hadn't seen it. And yes, Charles Clarke's expression is indeed priceless. Mark Thomas was good too.

Hare's Psychopathy Checklist

Hare's Psychopathy Checklist - Revised has been removed from the wikipedia link above. However, it is all over the web if you google it. Each criterion scores 0, 1 or 2 based on assessment of the subject's behaviour. A total score of 30 or over indicates psychopathy, although some psychiatrists consider a score of over 25 to be sufficient.

Here is my attempt at assessing Tony:

    * Glibness/superficial charm 2

    * Grandiose sense of self-worth 2

    * Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom 2

    * Pathological lying 2

    * Conning/manipulative 2

    * Lack of remorse or guilt 2

    * Shallow affect 2

    * Callous/lack of empathy 2

    * Parasitic lifestyle 2

    * Poor behavioral control 1

    * Promiscuous sexual behavior 0

    * Early behavior problems 1

    * Lack of realistic, long-term goals 2

    * Impulsivity 1

    * Irresponsibility 2

    * Failure to accept responsibility for own actions 2

    * Many short-term marital relationships 0

    * Juvenile delinquency 1

    * Revocation of conditional release 0
