Comrade Gordon

I just knew the Labour election was going to get interesting. Today, Lord Turnbull, permanent secretary to the Treasury for four years under Mr Brown before becoming cabinet secretary in 2002 sticks the knife into Gordon, describing him as having:
“very cynical view of mankind and his colleagues”.
“He cannot allow them any serious discussion about priorities. His view is that it is just not worth it and ‘they will get what I decide’. And that is a very insulting process,” Lord Turnbull said.
“Do those ends justify the means? It has enhanced Treasury control, but at the expense of any government cohesion and any assessment of strategy. You can choose whether you are impressed or depressed by that, but you cannot help admire the sheer Stalinist ruthlessness of it all.”
So Brown, like John Reid,
So Brown, like John Reid, has Stalinist leanings. So did Saddam Hussein... I wonder what are the odds that they will meet with similar fates?
Do you think Brown will cultivate a moustache when he becomes dictat... er, prime minister?
Are you sure his name is
Are you sure his name is Turnbull and not Turncoat?
I wonder why the former Perm. Sec. at the Treasury toke so long to come out with his reflections?
Don't be silly. He had to
Don't be silly. He had to ensure his peerage and large pension were properly sorted before getting down to settle old scores. I mean, wouldn't we all? It's tough at the top, you know...
So Gordie has a -
So Gordie has a - “very cynical view of mankind and his colleagues”. Which chimes quite neatly with some of the fundamentals of the Adam Curtis documentaries, namely the cold, callous view of humanity promulgated by James Buchanan and his ilk.
Am currently reading 'Web of Deceit' by Mark Curtis (the two aren't related are they?), which stomps on the notion that British foreign policy possesses even so much as shred of decent, humane motivation. Dear God, what vile, mean, brutal things this nation has done, and thats just in the postwar period.
Did anyone just see Gordon
Did anyone just see Gordon Brown picking his nose on Prime Minister's Questions? Revolting.
