Scotland Yard Press Conference on 7/7
Charges brought against three people arrested 22/3/07 over the 7/7 attacks.
Police basically not saying much beyond it being an astoundingly complex investigation - the odd half-lead dangled for the press and promising future arrests and wishing he could say more.
CPS woman detailing charges:
Between 1/11/04 - 29/6/05 unlawfully and maliciously conspired with MSK etc. and others to cause explosions on the TfL system and/or tourist attractions in London
(essentially around reconnaissance and planning before the plot was finalised).
The BBC's trailer says
which isn't totally backed up with the facts as given - the impression given is that the conspiracy is suspected to extend beyond the four bombers to a hinterland that helped in the research and planning rather than the actual preparation and execution of the bombing (which is obviously still a serious crime). Interesting stuff, but it's taken a while to come in. Presumably this would push any notional public inquiry (which we fully support) back post-trial, which could easily be 18 months to 2 years away.
Home Office terror law watchers will note that 14 days detention without charge appeared to be ample even for those suspected of a serious terrorist crime. Additionally, the charges aren't under any of the myriad post-2000 Terrorism Acts.
Fallen for the old psy-op
Fallen for the old psy-op again buddy!
We have seen countless times the government's arse being covered by a 'terror story' whenever there is something nasty in the news - like UK doing deals with Iran for release of navy personnel. Now news editors can show lots of hugging soldiers returning home and then juxtapose that with a UK 'war on terror' story. Just like Blair suggesting that Iran killed 4 UK soldiers, even though he started the statement 'although there is no evidence...' Of course our press will finish the job for him - see Daily Mail today.
The stories are always the same - lots of mention of 'terror, 'muslim community', Police telling us about the dangers - but it's all bollocks. Just like Blair suggesting that Iran killed 4 UK soldiers y'day - it's all bollocks..
We have seen countless times
We have seen countless times the government's arse being covered by a 'terror story' whenever there is something nasty in the news Well, yes; but the trouble with that argument is that it could be applied to a 'terror story' broken on just about any day with a 'y' in it, couldn't it?

Yes NotSaussure, I believe
Yes NotSaussure, I believe that is the Governments policy on items of embarrassment in the media. In fact I think it may just be a small step for them to take it to it's inevitable conclusion of "TERROR ATTACKS PLANNED FOR ANY DAY WITH A Y IN IT"
Nice site BTW
