Gordon Brown's "New Kind of Politics"
As if we needed it, today's Guardian provides confirmation that pressure by Brownites was put on MPs to wreck any chance of a leadership contest.
Brownite pressure on the 21 MPs who voted for Michael Meacher scuppered John McDonnell's chances of getting onto the ballot paper for the leadership contest, Guardian Unlimited has learned.
For all his official statements that Gordon Brown would welcome a contest, his campaign team worked overtime to dissuade potential supporters of McDonnell from backing the leftwing challenger.
In the 24 hours after the two leftwing rivals agreed to combine their support to stand against the chancellor, the Brownites managed to deter 14 of Mr Meacher's supporters from backing Mr McDonnell.
This makes a complete mockery of the statements Gordon Brown made after John McDonnell conceded defeat.
Asked whether he would have welcomed a contest, Mr Brown said: "At the end of the day it may be embarrassing, perhaps, to have so much support, but... I think you have got to accept that as the verdict of the parliamentary party."
As long ago as September last year Brown was saying how much he would welcome a contest for the leadership of the party. And yet for the last month he had been going out of his way to prevent one. Brown hasn't even taken over yet as Labour leader and Prime Minister and already we can see the same deceit as we saw under Blair. With no sense of irony, Brown continued with his theme of building "trust in our democracy".
"To build trust in our democracy, I'm sure we need a more open form of dialogue with citizens and politicians to genuinely talk about problems and solutions.
"It is about a different type of politics, a more open and honest dialogue," he said.
Yeah, right! And what of Brown's commitment to open government? Here's a clue.
For ten years he's watched
For ten years he's watched Blair lie and lie and lie and lie and get away with it. Now he's going to step on the stage and try to ape the master. It will be all the same lines, but it's going to really make us cringe. If this is his standard of play, he won't last long. What a moron.
Blair and Brown and the rest
Blair and Brown and the rest never showed a scrap of shame over Iraq - we shouldn`t expect anything similar over this. Brown continues the embedding of authoritarian legislation, making it easier for the next Tory govmt to turn us into the 51st state. Personally, I`d like to see Norm Baker leading the Lib Dems!

So Mr. Brown wants to build
So Mr. Brown wants to build trust in our Democracy does he? I openly challenge him to meet me and discuss what Democracy is. There are a lot of MP's who I have had correspondence with, who are aware of the MoD(UK), and its fixing of employment courts, against British ex-servicemen and others in Germany, with the help of Hitler's Law on Legal Advice 13th December 1935.
As none of these MP's who claim to be Democratic would help to investigate this matter, where is their allegiance to Democracy? This law is known about at European Court and poltical level as well, all the way to Barroso, and they all choose to ignore the fact that it is being used to deny ordinary citizens their right to a fair hearing, before an impartial tribunal, in civil cases, where a government body is the defendant. If anyone would like to see a judgment that because of its stupidity, denies employees the right to shift allowances, because they can walk to work even from as far as 91kms and do a 12 1/2 hour shift and then walk home 91kms I have the document available. The MoD(UK) even chose to deny this part of the judgment when it suited them, by writing almost one year later, that where an employee lives is irrelevant to the paymnet of shift allowances. Still it is possible to get any verdict when the employee is not allowed to speak in court, and is burdened with a solicitor who was planted on him at the last moment and who, incidentally, said nothing in court.
I was not aware that Hitler's laws were of a Democratic nature, and suitable in today's society.
This statement can all be backed with documentary evidence, and I openly challenge any politiciian, to discuss the matter in the public arena.

Fair enough...
He's got 2 years - then
He's got 2 years - then he's stuffed. Next time the Left will be better prepared.
Doesn't say much for the
Doesn't say much for the backbenchers. I know they must have been pretty weak minded to support meacher, but what kind of pressure did he exert? Expulsion, locating exciting new atomic energy facilities in their constituency or sending john reid around for a word?
That's right, Blair, Brown
That's right, Blair, Brown and company ONLY GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE MPs ALLOW THEM TO. Despite all the noble talk about the sovereignty of Parliament, none of them have any guts at all.
All the withdrawal from Iraq
All the withdrawal from Iraq stuff is also bollocks:
>Prime Minister Tony Blair's resignation after a decade in power was forced in part by voter anger over his support for the U.S.-led war and British media has been buzzing with talk that Brown may speed up the withdrawal of British troops from Iraq to assuage the public.
>"We have absolutely no such understanding. We believe there will be continuity within the UK government over the approach to Iraq and Afghanistan," the official said.
>"No, I would not look at any precipitate, unilateral or sudden departure here. We do not believe we can afford to leave Iraq," the official said.

If Gordon Brown is to
If Gordon Brown is to replace Tony Blair as Prime Minister, then I think we may need a renaming of BlairWatch.
First Brown wants to give special legal privileges to MP’s and now he’s supporting the illegal War in Iraq. It was thought Brown would remove British troops from Iraq, but now it appears he’s planning for them to remain, well at least until 2010! If the latter is correct then maybe Brown’s already working on matching Blair’s legacy, so it probably won’t be too long before we hear George Bush calling "yo Brown" to heel.
In addition, Brown has recently been openly calling for a New World Order, which apparantly is influenced by his colleagues in the Freemasons and the Bilderberg Group. Therefore Brown definitely needs watching, but unfortunately all Google can lead me to so far is The BrownWatch.
