There has been lots of media coverage in the US of the USS Enterprise's arrival in the Gulf. No such coverage was given to the arrival of the three other aircraft-carrier battle groups. There is genuine concern that the US is lining up the Enterprise as a victim of an Iranian missile strike, so as to justify a military response.

Guess it will be a repeat of the  failed USS Liberty affair, where Israel spent three hours trying to kill the entire crew before calling off the attack. It was hoped by Israel that Egypt would be blamed for the attack and the US would then attack Egypt on it's behalf.

Today's 'The Daily Show', supposedly covering PMQs, found time to start the programme with 5 minutes of non-news terror propaganda. Paddy Ashdown managed to end up comparing our involvement in Iraq with fighting Hitler as he tried to square (impossibly) his support for fake terror and opposition to Iraq.

I'm sure he didn't mean it but these days you can get away with talking any old crap on TV without fear of the presenters challenging you. Indeed, they usually sit their nodding wisely. Moral cretins.
