Very powerful... GhostofZappa. I remember reading about some of those events.
Now, speaking of unfinished business...
when are the people going to insist on Blair being put on trial for war crimes?
They cannot put him on
They cannot put him on Trial. He is hiding in Israel pretending to be a middle east diplomat/peace broker. He is well protected over there out of reach and more importantly out of sight(out of sight out of mind.Bliar is hoping to vanish down the memory hole.
I fear for the future of the
I fear for the future of the United Nations is he is NOT put on trial. I don't much care whether he gets a suspended sentence or community service, or exile to Cliff Richard's mansion, as long as he goes on trial.
There was a flagrant breach of International Law. Many nations no longer trust the UN as a result. If the organisation that was brought together to reconstitute International Law in 1945 won't act there IS no International Law.
I was born long after world war 2, but it seems likely that if the League of Nations held together there would have been no invasion of Ethiopia, and probably no Spanish Civil War. We all know that Hitler used Guernica as his first dress rehearsal, and the covering of that painting of Guernica in the UN for Colin Powell to sprout forth his lies shows just how much ground the UN needs to make up!
If it was Blair on trial or world war 3, I wonder if people would be so hesitant?
