Scare New Zealand

in

Interesting story, about Air New Zealand secretly flying trooping missions for the US in Iraq and how much the NZ Government knew.  It's interesting for what it reveals about the Coalition of the Willing and how Bush works internationally, as well as an interesting insight into Aussie-NZ relations (which as anyone whose met a couple of them, aren't always the best):

The Australian government expressed its ‘extreme displeasure’ with the Clark government’s hypocritical anti-war posturing, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer called in New Zealand Ambassador John Larkindale for an official reprimand. Australia has now forbidden its military to use Air New Zealand under any circumstances, including commercial flight travel. Helen Clark’s response was to declare that Downer should keep his nose out of New Zealand’s political affairs.

Ladies!  Please!

Good to see that the

Good to see that the Bush-enablers are being flushed out.  There should be a special level of hell reserved for them.

I stumbled upon this article

I stumbled upon this article whilst looking for some reporting on the Archbishop of Canterbury's recent visit to the Middle East. There appears to have been very little coverage considering this man is the spiritual leader of some 500 million Christian protestants. Perhaps it is because he has spoken out against military attacks on Iran and Syria.

I do not know who Libby Purves is, but I do know she is guilty of a very serious misrepresentation that there surely must be laws against.

Under the banner of 'A Guide to Religion and Faith' we have proven lie after proven lie aimed at smearing Iran with blatant propaganda who's only use can be to soften public opinion for more mass slaughter in the Middle East. The false translations were a product of Israeli funded MEMRI, a regular source of such deceptions for war.

Libby Purves (Libby Perverse would be more accurate) obviously needs reminding that one of the ten commandments is that thou shalt not bear false witness. Not many things can be as hypocritical as a religious column being used to support the mass murder of men, women and children in the most horrific way imaginable. Truly disgusting.

Presumably the Aussies will

Presumably the Aussies will dispatch their 'cultural attache,' Les Patterson, to work on New Zealand.  A couple of days of that should get the Kiwis back in line.

I do not know who Libby

I do not know who Libby Purves is, but I do know she is guilty of a very serious misrepresentation that there surely must be laws against.

Ever-so-middle-class BBC Radio presenter, not hitherto known for her critical analysis of foreign affairs.  That's a shockingly bad article though, not that Mr. Ahmedi-Nejad needs my support, he's still a nasty piece of work, just not a very powerful one.

What is odd about that

What is odd about that article, titled "30 jaw-dropping quotes: Ahmahdinejad on Israel" is that 14 of the 30 don't even mention Israel, Zionists or Jews!

One of the quotes, number 15, is '"They [the United States] think they are the absolute rulers of the world." October 29, 2005.' And I thought that was just a self-evident fact, how wrong I was. It's obviously anti-Israeli hate speech because Libby Purves said so. Stupid me, when will I learn?

Well, quite.  He's made,

Well, quite.  He's made, max, about ten things you can make an argument went too far.  The rest are either a) exaggerated, b) perfectly reasonable or c) mild conspiracy theorist stuff.

Compare to any article interviewing a neo-con, or John Bolton interviewed by the BBC (weekly occurrance, sad to say).
