New Draconian Anti-Terror Legislation On Its Way?

There must be, stories like this are magically appearing:

At least 2,000 people in the UK threaten national security because of their support for terrorism, MI5's chief says.

Ah.  When's the Queen's Speech again?

In the past 12 months, MI5 had found links between an increasing range of countries and terror plots in the UK, he said.

In Iraq, Algeria and parts of East Africa, especially Somalia, he said, the "al-Qaeda brand" had expanded and now posed a threat to the UK.

We're winning in Iraq, there's no link between Iraq and UK terrorism and we have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here.  Do try to keep up.  An expanding al-Qaeda brand plus this weekend's military re-coup in Pakistan doesn't give me the warm fuzzy feeling that we're doing just fine with Dubya and the boys in charge of the WoT.  It almost makes you think that those leftie wussy do-gooder terrorist loving liberals who opposed the Iraq War and the use of torture and secret prisons by the US might have had a point when they opined that this was, um, counterproductive.  Surely not?

To be honest I thought it

To be honest I thought it was MI5 pitching for more cash rather than a softening up or more anti-terror legislation per-se, but you could be right.

In fact the main thrust of it seemed to be asking russia china, and doubtless france, to please stop spying on us, pretty please.

The timing is, to say the

The timing is, to say the least, opportune, if you wanted to spin the message 'Look, Our Secret Squirrel Squad Says There's Thousands Out There, Let's Bang Em Up Now'.  The headlines, if you look around, are all about 'teen radicals' rather than 'more cash plea by MI5 head'.

There's also the history of using what are, on the face of it, appeals for more resources (the Hayman 7 page document from a couple of years ago is a prime example) as background to the extension of detention powers to be taken into consideration

Hamas and Hezbollah are now

Hamas and Hezbollah are now moving to Mexico to infiltrate the US and bring down the government. You can't make this stuff up... because someone else already has.

It is truly pathetic that those in the media and government allow this bullshit to be put out. The problem is if the people ignore it too much then we get a 'refresher' about terror from our very own security services - the treacherous evil cunts that would set light to their own granny to keep warm.

This is not about 'draconian anti-terror laws', it's about killing millions of moslems when the US/UK axis starts its dirty war with Iran. Demonize the "enemy" so the public won't mind when you massacre the men, women and children.

Of course the real enemy for the US and the West is the mighty China.  But they have a proper army, navy and airforce so you won't see brave Americans and Brits going to war against them. The US/UK axis just likes to beat-up on the small, defenceless  nations.

"At least 2,000 people in

"At least 2,000 people in the UK threaten national security because of their support for terrorism, MI5's chief says".

That's a gross underestimate. There must be at least ten times that many people in the MoD building alone. And then you have Whitehall, Downing Street... without even mentioning the media.

Although Benazir Bhutto made a triumphant return to Pakistan last month, boosted by the knowledge that she enjoys the support of the US, the main power-broker in Pakistani politics, many in Pakistan still regard her as irreversibly tainted by allegations of corruption...
