A Million Georgians Protest in Tbilisi

Yesterday, a million Georgians took to the streets and formed a human chain in protest against the Russian occupation, timed to coincide with the EU summit meeting.

Photos here.

I appreciate you have an axe

I appreciate you have an axe to grind, hence the existance of this blog but are you sure of your figures??
One million people is almost a quarter of the population of Georgia.

The police generally underestimate the number of people on a demonstration , so would there realistically have been more than a quarter of the population out on the streets??

Your photographs do not show a high density of demonstrators.  For example, in central London on 15 Feb 03 the streets were impassible for the number of people trying to make their way to the Stop the War demonstration.

I would have expected a show of national unity under the current circumstances to look more like this or this.

There are alternative accounts to yours of the recent events. For example, do you reject the one given by Moon over Alabhama??

1. The figure of a million

1. The figure of a million was reported by several news organisations.

2. The population in and around Tbilisi has increased with a large number of refugees

3. The demonstration took place throughout the capital and other towns, over a very large area.

You may find the mp3 of the meeting I attended of interest.
