Labour's Civil War
Behind the scenes Labour is at war. With itself. Electoral disaster is facing them, in the European elections - expect the Tories to have enough members to pull out of the EPP group with ease - and the council elections. The last elections were very bad for Labour and if they do even wose than last time, Brown's card will be truly marked.
So what are Labour thinking? Well it seems that Brown is dead in the water, unlikely lead the party in the next election, his economic record is in the bin and the McBride ripped apart his dour morality and the budget went down badly. Especially as Cameron was devastating in response to it, looking a little reminiscent of Mr Blair, some thought.
As things stand, I pedict Brown will stand down around the Party conference, possibly being offered something at the IMF or World Bank as a face-saver.
Who's up for the job? Take a look at who does the media rounds each time there's a new blow, such as this story, about Blair opposing the 50% tax band.
Tony's clearly approved people to speak on his behalf, a signal to his followers. Notice Charles Clarke, once more, putting his oar in. Mandelson laying down the law, and the unnamed sources, I wouldn't be suprised if they included Johnson and Straw.
Thr Brownies raise the spectre of Harman. Let's be frank, when your defence of your boss is trying to scare people with the prospect of Harman PM, you're running out of cards to play.
But to win the election, it will take a different leader. I'd put money on Milliband or Johnson. And a side bet on Blair as European President after an Irish yes to Lisbon in October.
Quarsan, are you sure about
Quarsan, are you sure about this? We dont want Millipede as Leader, nor Johnson Im so special I cant manage the NHS Either option is enough to make the populace vomit.
Can't we just have a general election and be spared the pain?
Vote Libertarian in your area We do exist
No, I'm not sure at all, but
No, I'm not sure at all, but I think the scenario is possible, as things stand at the moment. Please note that caveat. I'm not too sure what'll happen in the UK European elections. For example, UKIP as a party has collapsed and imploded with extraordinarily vile accusations being thrown about - and I believe the most vile is completely false, but these guys are way beyond McBride.
But have the voters noticed? Has Cameron's move out of the EPP taken the sting out of the sceptics? I've no idea what the UKIP vote will be, but I think they could be reduced to two MEP's, Farage and Coleman who hate each others guts.
Will the BNP get a seat? I hope not, especially as it will be held against the UK. Make no mistake, electing even one BNP MEP will harm the nations interests.
The UKFP and English Democrats won't make any impact. Sadly the Greens might lose their two seats. A shame because Caroline Lucas is an excellent MEP, one of the most hard working.
There's a whole generation
There's a whole generation that doesn't know how bad living under Tory Party rule is - it looks lke they're about to find out.
But what does Milliband
But what does Milliband offer? New Labour went through all this last autumn with Milliband's rather empty Guardian article. It also assumes that Brown can be deposed, and election fought and completed and a manifesto put in place 6-9 months before the next election. The Blair groupies are probably just getting in their excuses early so they can blame everyone but themselves if New Labour loses the election.
By the looks of it, it seems
By the looks of it, it seems that all governments are finding their flaws. Especially due to the sensitivity of all aspects of administration during this low economic period. More power to the ones that are finding the loopholes, and forcing them open to vulnerability, which in turn will enforce the foundational structure of the establishment.
