Someone slap an ASBO on Blunkett

The errant lothario is in trouble again, once more it's down to DNA. There is an almighty smell of fish here. The main claim that he broke the rules seems to be pretty clear and his excuse is pathetic. It wouldn't wash with a primary school teacher.

But I think there is something deeper here.

According to the story so far, as the last election was called Blunkett joined the board of DNA Bioscience. Two weekes later, after getting reelected - to nobody's suprise, he had to resign under the code of conduct. Given that Labour was going to win and it was a sure bet that Blunkett would return as a minister, why did he join the board?

After all, he and the company would know that he wouldn't be around for long. Why would anyone join a company for two weeks? Why would the board want a director for a fortnight?

Could it be possible that a deal was done? Perhaps Blunkett needed some cover for the 3% of the company he bought. It does seem likely that he joined the board only to get his hands on the shares and the company couldn't refuse him as Blunkett will be in the cabinet that decides the DNA testing contracts for the ID Cards.

These guys make John Major look like the head of a spotless administration.

Did you see the minister on

Did you see the minister on one of the Sunday lunchtime politics shows trying to claim that Blunkett was a man of honour and integrity? Even in the company of some very scummy pondlife I think as far as honour and integrity goes he is the worst.

Blunkett has now proved,

Blunkett has now proved, beyond all doubt, that he does not have the quality of sound judgement required of a government minister.
