Blunkett resigns

Blunkett's gone. Went to see Blair at Number 10 and left by the back door.
Didn't turn up before the select Committee at 9am, to talk about govt plans for incapacity benefit and pensions.
Good riddance.
PMQ will be interesting...
I think it was because of
I think it was because of PMQ today, and the fact that Blair was going to be raked over the coals about DNA Dave that finally clinched it. The last think Blair wanted was pictures being broadcast around the world of him justifying keeping Blunkett in Cabinet, because the story has become about Blair's judgement, and in the old maxim, Blair will sacrifice his friends for his political life.
Lets see how long it will be
Lets see how long it will be before he comes back ?
As they say, a week in politics is a life time.
I think a 2nd re-appointment
I think a 2nd re-appointment to the UK government would be an impossibility - Blair is too weakened and the emboldened cabinet is still full of folk that DNA Dave shafted in his book !
But do look out for his appointment as EU minister for the 'differently-abled'. The gravy from that train would sort his financial difficulties, and no mistake.
Funnily enough Blair said he
Funnily enough Blair said he shouldn't have gone and DNA Dave is saying Blair asked him to stay on. So it is about Blair's judgement.
But the theory that he didn't resign, but was sacked (a la Mandy) are growing. If he was, then Blair will have been caught lying through his teeth. Again. But he's losing his credibility and influence so fast that people's patience is running a bit thin.
