Frozen Turkeys, Peter Killfoyle and the al-Jazeera memo.
I am generally of the 'Bah Humbug Scrooge' mentality when it comes to the silly season otherwise known as christmas, as being a non christian the festival means little to me.
[Although last night's carol concert did stir up some christmas spirit deep down in my lost soul.]
Chicken Yoghurt sums up my feelings about the whole experience in his latest post:
I'll also be pondering why, in this season of goodwill to all, when you go down the shops, people are invariably grasping, ill-bred savages incapable of showing good manners let alone goodwill.
Have a Happy... Thing.
But my attempts to deal with Chrismas food shopping at the Church of St Tesco were brightened by bumping into Peter Kilfoyle this morning in the froxen food section. Not only did he and his wife counter Chicken Yoghurt's [and my own] assertions that christmas shopping turns us all into 'grasping ill bred savages', he was positively encourging over the prospect of more emerging about the al-Jazeera memo story. He was naturally reticent about the detail, but suffice to say, we can look forward to more developments in the New Year...
Happy 'thing' to you all.
Well there is some good news
Well there is some good news then. To hear something like that in Tesco of all places is enough to almost persuade me about the "Season of Goodwill"... almost.
Every little bit helps!
By the way, I asked my MP David Lammy about Peter Kilfoyle's EDMs and why he hasn't signed them. He replied that As he is the Minister for Culture in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, he cannot sign Early Day Motions as it is contrary to established protocol for members of the government to do that.
Hmm strange, I'm sure I saw other Ministers sign EDMs last time I checked.
On a quick skim of the EDMs
On a quick skim of the EDMs database, I think David Lammy is right: list here

Surprised you eagle eyed chaps haven't spotted Mr. Kilfoyle's ranging shot in today's grauniad - http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,14173,1682257,00.html

Tom,
I am stuck in work today, and can't log on to the site to post from behind the council firewall:(
Leaktastic! Thanks for pointing it out.
Peter hinted as much in tesco before xmas, but we didn't want to 'blow his cover'
Keep an eye on Steve Clemmons site, the Washington Note
http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/
He reckons he is close to having something on it Stateside, I don't know if he is Peter's contact, but i think he might be in the loop over there...:)
Funny Who gets charged and who doesn't!
Will be more difficult to convict Keogh and O'Connor if same doc has been leaked by 2 Labour MPs :)
OSA - R.I.P.:)
There are advantages in
There are advantages in working in the internet business sometimes - connectivity! :)
Is this effective confirmation of what PK was saying before Christmas then?
I should think that a jury in the current state of the nation would be most interested to hear that the document was already public when the alleged offence took place - they (ok, we) are usually ready to side with the little fellow in true British tradition, particularly when the PTB charge them but refuse to go after anyone with any power or a platform to speak from, like Mr. Kilfoyle.
I am assuming that Peter
I am assuming that Peter chose to make this disclosure now, in an effort to support Keogh and O'Connor.
Surely any prosecution of Keogh and O'Connor is going to look ridiculous in the face of two Labour MP's saying they leaked it too...
