THe al-Jazeera Memo Trial, will take place on the 24th Jan 2006
At the committal hearing today Judge Timothy Workman set the date for the trial of David Keogh and Leo O'Connor. The prosecution is carrying regardless on in the face of Peter Kilfoyle and Tony Clarke's disclosures of yesterday, the trial will start on 24th January 2006.
Not that you would know it from the UK media...
Unless I have missed it, there has been little if any coverage on TV and radio here! We shall see what the morning's deadwood press has to offer.
We, of course are no closer to seeing the document, but it was disclosed to the defence for the first time today.
"It is what I expected having read the reports in the media," Clark said. "I didn't think there was anything in the document that would embarrass the British government. I will be seeking the disclosure of the document in court."
This would appear to be as close to confiming the Mirror story as the defence can go without being held in contempt. As there has only been one story about the contents of the memo prior to Lord Goldsmith's gagging order there is not much room left for doubt.
But if there was any room for doubt, at risk of repeating myself ad nauseum - [you can skip the next bit if you have been here before].
The UK government, in the form of the Cabinet Office confirmed that there was a conversation between Bush and Blair about bombing al-Jazeera, when they refused this Freedom of Information request made by the FOIA blog.

Dear Mr Wood,
Thank you for your email of 24 November in which you request a copy of any memos or notes that record President Bush's discussions with the Prime Minister about the bombing of the al-Jazeera television station in Qatar. Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I can confirm that the cabinet Office holds information which is relevant to your request.
It doesn't sound like a joke, or a conspiracy theory for that matter.
Be sure to keep an eye on Empire Burlesque's al-Jazeera memo news scraper, and Keep shouting...
