How to encrypt your email

So you want to hide your email and messages from prying eyes? It's easy enough to do. There's numerous programs, either freeware or low cost, that make it simple as well as utterly secure. Some plug into your mail client and the process becomes transparent.
You can also hide messages inside JPG, MP3, and WAV files with no discernable difference in the file. The JPG looks the same, the MP3 sounds the same. But now there's a message hidden in it. They can't find your message if they don't know it's there.
For those interested, my blog has a longish post with all the details. Why should governments be the only ones with strong crypto?

Seriously though, yes this is a propeller head topic. However Zimmermann has said he's gotten email over the years from people in liberation/freedom movements in various countries thanking him because now they can pass messages safely.
PGP uses public key encryption, exactly the same technology used by secure websites (https://). Online commerce would not exist without public key crypto.
all that hassle with pgp
all that hassle with pgp software - just get webmail on https eh? or use imap server over https eh?
these ones really DO work, i'm wearing mine now eh?
Eh?
Eh?
There is another way to look
There is another way to look at this problem: if we all start including words such as 'Khalashnikov' 'Semtex' 'Enriched Uranium' 'Anthrax' 'Improvised Explosive Device' in our communications, just randomly dotted about, eventually any spying will be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff from all us dangerous seditionists.
