Oxymoron: American Intelligence

The Chicago Tribune says it has compiled a list of 2,653 CIA employees, just by searching the internet.

The newspaper said it gathered the information from online services that compile public data, that any fee-paying subscriber can access.

It did not publish the names, at the CIA's request. Many of the agents are believed to be covert. The paper also located two dozen "secret" facilities.

A CIA spokeswoman admitted the internet had scuppered some of its methods. - source

The CIA dispatched E Howard

The CIA dispatched E Howard Hunt, of Watergate fame, to acquire the film rights from George Orwell’s widow for ‘Animal Farm’ after his death in 1950 and the agency duly released an animated version in 1955 with a rewritten ending. The finale in the book has the farm animals looking back and forth at the tyrannical pigs and the exploitative humans and finding it
"impossible to say which was which." In the 1955 CIA version, humans disappeared.
In a similar vein the agency changed the cinematic version of Orwell’s ‘1984’’, contrary to Orwell’s expressed wishes. Winston Smith in Orwell’s version is totally defeated and his last line reads: "He loved Big Brother." The CIA rewrite has Winston and Julia gunned down with Winston defiantly shouting: "Down with Big Brother!"

been checking on this story that appeared in the chacago tribune written by crewdson - i think crewdson is being very disingenuous - he never did a random search as he claims - he had a list of names of individuals and companies that he conducted internet searches on to establish if they had any connection to the US Government, not specifically the CIA - he claims in his article that the database has since disappeared - unlikely, it would still be in the google caches, rather it was never there - the point is crewdson acquired a list of names of possible CIA operatives and established that these names are related to the US Government - he tries to pull the patriotic line and not disclose those names, its far more likely that any disclosure would compromise his source, however tenuous the source's reliability
