Bush Plans Nuclear Strike Against Iran - Will Tony Come Out To Play? *UPDATED*
Seymore Hersh is investigating US war plans against Iran. There have been many indications and leaks, all pointing to the same conclusion: the US is actively planning a strike/invasion of Iran.
But this time they're going to use nukes.
According to a highly placed source Bush thinks “that saving Iran is going to be his legacy.â€Â
What indeed? Let's listen to a wiser voice
What will Tony do? On the one hand he is so close to the US that he will feel the need to sign up to this and it is almost certain that he will give Bush the same assurances that he did over Iraq, but the UK military and diplomats are united in their horror of the proposed strike, and their attitude to a nuclear strike can only be imagined.
We have heard the same message from a wide range of sources: the UK military are going to object to this dangerous fantasy in the strongest possible terms and may even refuse to take part. They finally acceded to the Iraq adventure because a democratically elected parliament had voted for action and they got written legal advice from the Attourney General. That won't work a second time.
I'm going to make a prediction: If Tony looks like he's going to go along with this plan he will be removed from power in a coup. No, not a military coup, but a very British coup.

A high-level meeting will take place in the Ministry of Defence at which senior defence chiefs and government officials will consider the consequences of an attack on Iran.
It is believed that an American-led attack, designed to destroy Iran's ability to develop a nuclear bomb, is "inevitable" if Teheran's leaders fail to comply with United Nations demands to freeze their uranium enrichment programme.

I hope you are flipping well right about UK not riding on Bush's posse this time.
NOBODY should give them ANY backing. UAE, The USK's famous ally, is just across the Gulf from Iran and we have family there. Have already discussed with them, in disbelieving terms that anybody could be so evil/stupid but these men have plenty of previous. Discussed with my niece keeping her little cat fully inoculated in case they have to leave quick.
The insane US may give no warning so then where would my family be? I have no confidence at all that the vile liar Tony Blair would give a rat's ass about any Briton in the area. A few years ago we never thought in a thousand years we could even be contemplating this. Sorry to sound so doomy but this is the most frightening yet.
While the US will try not to
While the US will try not to give any warning if they follow this insane plan, there will be signs that should hint at imminent military action:
Increased activity around Diego Garcia
Unusual shipping movements in the Gulf
Announcements of large increases or decreases of troops in Iraq
Reports of more military jets flying in places like Turkey
Annoucements of "military exercises"
Weapon testing in the USA
Withdrawal of diplomats and aid agencies
And, of course, more big scare stories about Iran in the MSN.
Some of this is happening already, but its almost impossible to keep a massive attack secret. I think Britain's involvement will be kept to a minimum, but the UK will be involved because America needs the fig leaf of legitamacy/internationalisation. Maybe Blair will try to keep Britain's involvement a secret like Germany did in Iraq. It wouldn't surprise me if the SAS were already active in Iran. But this is getting very scary indeed. I hope these bastards can be ousted before things go much further.
Hey Dick,
Hey Dick,
Soldiers, war, fuck ups everything is relevant mate. How about the US will get its ass kicked if they go into Iran and you will have thousands of sad scenarios such as that depicted in the above video.
Who said it was amusing or are you making that bit up yoself?
These fuckin asshole in Washington will use Nukes on Iraq as it is the ONLY way the animals could win.
Whether or not the US gets
Whether or not the US gets it's 'ass kicked' depends on what action it takes. It may well be that they limit themselves to Israeli-supported bombing. All Hell will then break loose in Shi'ite areas of Iraq, which the US will bomb some more. There will be lots of bombing, but if the US doesn't deploy ground troops, there will be no ass-kicking, just many civilian deaths.
Those US soldiers in the video are just country boys. I doubt the recruitment officer told them what they were letting themselves in for, and they probably couldn't have placed Iraq on the map.
It is interesting the use of 'low-yield' nukes to attack supposed underground nuclear facilities - they can always blame the radioactive contamination on the nuclear facilities rather than the nuke itself.
American Marines?
American Marines? What a bunch of fannys! If any of my boys were screaming like that, i'd smash him and tell him to get a grip. You americans have the biggest army but obviously the worst trained. American marine, the equivilent of a british green jacket (Fact)
World War 3 is coming...West v middle east Only God knows what the rest of the international community will do. If there is such a 'God'
Australia has been abuzz
Australia has been abuzz with rumours that Tony intends to depart the scene by the end of this year - any handle on this in the UK? It figures if Iran gets nuked prior to the US midterm elections in November.
The nuclear issue is bogus - its neither here nor there if and when Iran develops nuclear capability. It no more substanstantial than those WMDs capable of being launched in 45mins or turning into mushroom clouds.
Its more the ratification of those oil contracts.
I don't think Tony has an
I don't think Tony has an intention to leave power, it is more a matter of how long he can hang on. There's much talk of for how long.
The Iranian nuclear issue is largely bogus: they are years away from enriching enough uranium to make a fission weapon. I can understand Iran's desire though - just look at how the US laid waste to Afghanistan and Iraq. I would try and build a nuke if I was in their shoes, not to mention the threat overshadowing them from Israel with its hundreds of nukes. There is also the point that what Iran is doing is not illegal - enriching fuel for civilian power stations.
The US wants strategic control of the world's oil and gas reserves - it has stated this and it is doing it. The reason relatively few troops were used in Afhanistan and Iraq was the need to test its tactics of deploying multiple small forces supported by air power. This leaves it with force to spare for Iran, Syria, the 'Stans, and who knows, South America? PNAC is scary stuff.
This is an addendum to an
This is an addendum to an earlier post from Davide Simonetti re what to watch out for.
DS emphasises the role of Diego Garcia in any bunker buster raids on Iran. I suggest looking closer to home - the US base at Fairfield in Gloucestershire. Along with a US base in the USA, there are three other US bases fully equipped to service the stealth, ie, radar avoidance, capacity and other facilities required to accomodate aircraft capable of launching such raids. One such aircraft is the B-2.
Fairford underwent a huge refurbishment in 2004. Last week it received three B-2s. Just lately there have been a number of measures to close access roads leading to the US base.
I see the window for an attack on Iran to be very small. It is by no means certain that the US Congress will revert to the Democrats this November even though things are not looking good for the Republicans. Does the Bush-Cheney team leave their options till November when the Republicans may lose either the House or the Senate or both? If any of this happens, the White House faces either impeachment and/or greater oversight by Congress of foreign policy.
PNAC policy documents dating back to 1998-2000 did not stop in Iraq. Bush's first State of the Union address explicitly identified Iran as a part of the axis of evil. Almost all the contributors involved in the PNAC strategy paper 2000 are or have been influential members of the Bush-Chehey team, including Cheney himself. The only exception is Condoleeza Rice.
IAEA is being brushed aside by US strongarm tactics and required to report directly to the Security Council. This reminds me how UNSCOM was sidelined and ignored in the months leading upto the Iraq invasion.
